Excellent news, but is it too late to drain the swamp?

Trump's already swamped the drain, so yes, it probably is.

The NY Times - MyPillow’s Mike Lindell Is Served Search Warrant

14 September

Mike Lindell, a prominent promoter of 2020 election misinformation, was served with a search warrant, and his cellphone was seized, by F.B.I. agents who questioned him about his ties to a Colorado county clerk who is accused of tampering with voting machines ...

Mr. Lindell, the chief executive and founder of MyPillow, is a major promoter of debunked theories that keep alive the false notion that the election was stolen from former President Donald J. Trump. ...

Excellent. Mind you, at least he'll have plenty of pillows to cry into tonight. As an aside, apparently those things are absolute crap to sleep on.

Yet another far-right idiot wins a Republican primary (this clown thinks the coronavirus vaccine contains microchips), making the Democrats job of hanging onto that seat a lot easier (hopefully).

Personally I think abortion is going to make the biggest impact.

Anyone who's anti-abortion would already be voting Republican.

But a large number of people are not passionate Republicans. They also may not usually vote, so will make protest votes, even if they don't like Democrats.

For this one, note the flag on the right (I had to look twice to see it):

Political cartoon.

Was reading this this afternoon, an interesting look at what Trump has done in the past (and possibly even today) to try and sway power over people he feels have "wronged" him.

If anyone thought conspiracy believing Republicans appeared because of Trump, and will disappeared afterwards, I've got some bad news...

Here's an interactive conspiracy chart

New York Times: Even When Trump Endorses No One, G.O.P. Voters Go Far to the Right

Republican voters on Tuesday rendered their latest judgment on the tussle between Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell for control of the party: They’re with Trump.

In this week’s primary elections in New Hampshire, G.O.P. voters picked three hard-right candidates who have floated baseless theories about problems with the 2020 results — a sign that the election-fraud fever inside the Republican Party has not yet abated, if it ever will.

...Bolduc, a decorated retired Army general who has avidly promoted Trump’s conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential results,

...Karoline Leavitt, a 25-year-old former press assistant in the Trump White House, served as a political appointee in Trump’s State Department and later as a board member of the International Republican Institute, a pillar of the wheezing internationalist wing of the G.O.P. Leavitt has repeatedly pushed the fiction that Trump was robbed in 2020.

...Burns said during the campaign that he accepted Biden’s 2020 victory but believed that “a ton” of other elections were stolen that year.

Notably, Trump did not endorse a candidate in any of these contests.

Conspiracy theory belief in the US has been stable for some time. Trump is an accelerant but not a cause.

Keeping it in the family ...

The NY Times - N.Y. Attorney General May Sue Trump After Rejecting Settlement Offer

breaking

The New York attorney general’s office has rebuffed an offer from Donald J. Trump’s lawyers to settle a contentious civil investigation into the former president and his family real estate business, setting the stage for a lawsuit that would accuse Mr. Trump of fraud ...

The attorney general, Letitia James, is also considering suing at least one of Mr. Trump’s adult children ...

Ivanka, Eric and Donald Trump Jr. have all been senior executives at Mr. Trump’s company, the Trump Organization. ...

Ms. James, a Democrat who is running for re-election in November, is focused on whether Mr. Trump fraudulently inflated the value of his assets and has mounted a three-and-a-half-year inquiry that has cemented her as one of the former president’s chief antagonists.

Maybe they should give each Trump child a dollar, so they can buy a clue.

Trump's power is waning, and he's not far from shuffling off this mortal coil.

They basked in reflected glory, and saw daddy's immunity from justice, and thought "if him, why not me?"

But daddy a B-list reality TV star; their less-classy Honey Boo Boo.

They can scream "what about Hunter Biden?" till they are blue in the face, but it's not going to gain favour from judges.

This part stuck out to me: Gone, for most in Trump World, was the bravado that this probe too would pass and that the 45th president would emerge stronger. Instead, there was growing anxiety about what could be next, as well as fears that those in the inner circle may flip on their friends to save themselves.

It's a pretty sad "world" you lead if eventually everyone turns on each other just to save their own skin.

What struck me about the above link was this extract, "including his sons Don Jr. and Eric — charging that the legal pressure was due to a Democratic conspiracy that would backfire at the ballot box this November and in 2024."

So, when did elections overrule the laws of the land?

Oh, I forgot, this is magaland.
