Sound like Trump is worried about the counterfeit electors in the coup attempt.

And no, no one has ever put forward an "alternate electors / slates", except perhaps in an alternate reality.

From an interview in Ohio

Host: "They are attempting I think to indict people for plans to select alternative electors. Have you received a target letter Mr. President?"

Trump: no I haven't at all and frankly uh when you look at alternate slates that way that's been done for decades and decades many many years alternate slates are actually common.

I wasn't involved with alternate slates but I can tell you many people have been for many many years doing alternate slates."

WASHINGTON - A federal judge on Thursday rejected the Justice Department’s request to resume a key part of its inquiry into former President Donald J. Trump’s handling of sensitive government records and appointed an outside arbiter to review thousands of documents seized last month from his Florida residence.

The judge, Aileen M. Cannon, declined to lift any part of an order she issued last week that barred the department from using the documents, including about 100 marked classified, in its investigation until the arbiter, known as a special master, had completed a review.

In her 10-page decision, Judge Cannon appointed a special master suggested by the Trump legal team and agreed upon by the government: Raymond J. Dearie, a semiretired judge from the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Judge Dearie will now have the authority to sift through more than 11,000 records the F.B.I. carted away from Mr. Trump’s estate, Mar-a-Lago, on Aug. 8.

The move was a blow to the Justice Department, almost certain to significantly delay its investigation* into whether the former president unlawfully retained national defense records or obstructed repeated attempts by federal officials to retrieve them.

A lawyer named Foonberg wrote a book about starting a law practice.

A rule: is known as “Foonberg’s Rule”: Cash up front.

“The client who can’t or won’t pay you cash at the beginning of the case is the same client who can’t or won’t pay you cash during the case and is the same client who can’t or won’t pay you cash at the end of the case,”

Perhaps I should send his book to Trump's lawyers.

This will delay the broader criminal investigation of what government documents Trump took to his clubhouse by months, potentially longer.

2. Could Trump be charged or could his allies go to jail over false election-fraud claims in Georgia?

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) ... thinks serious crimes could have been committed and that someone might go to jail as a result of her investigation. But it’s not clear when it will wrap up, or how much it will target Trump himself.

3. What is the Justice Department investigating in regard to Trump and Jan. 6?

Prosecutors seem to be consistently focusing on who set up slates of illegitimate electors in states that Trump lost - and then whether they tried to use them as a pretext for the Jan. 6 attack.

I did read somewhere that Trump must actually be quite worried about his legal situation, given that he's paying this lawyer in actual money (not horses).

It takes a brave investor to go into business with Donald Trump.

The former president’s hotels and casinos have declared bankruptcy six times. Trump’s short-lived airline crashed. He paid out millions of dollars to settle multiple lawsuits for running an unlicensed “university” that the conservative National Review called a “massive scam”. And then there is the Trump Organization’s looming criminal trial for tax fraud.

For all that, a business built around Trump’s famed ability to rile up millions of people online must have seemed a good bet to those who poured money into backing the company behind his rival to Twitter, Truth Social.

Now that too has run into trouble as more than a billion dollars in investment has stalled amid shareholder hesitation and a federal investigation into whether Trump Media and Technology Group broke the law in its dealings with a company set up to provide the money.

As so often with the former president, it’s not immediately clear what is going on.

Trump launched Truth Social in February after he was thrown off of Twitter for inciting violence after he lost the presidential election. He previously ran a blog, From the Desk of Donald Trump, but it shut down after less than a month because almost no one was reading it.

After a long legal fight, the House Oversight Committee has received a first trove of documents from the firm, which recently entered into a legal settlement agreeing to produce a range of financial documents from several years before Mr. Trump took office and during his early presidency.
