kingdragonfly: stop painful late-term abortions
Will they also stop pink elephants and unicorns?
"Late-term abortions" was an invention by the US anti-abortion movement, there's no such thing despite claims that "you can have an abortion right until the day before you give birth". Since they're imaginary, the anti-abortion crusaders can invent anything they want around them, and more importantly by shouting "late-term abortions" over and over again it makes it impossible to have any reasonable debate over abortion in general.
The NY Times - After Years of Political Hype, the Durham Inquiry Failed to Deliver
17 May 2023
The limping conclusion to John H. Durham’s four-year investigation of the Russia inquiry underscores a recurring dilemma in American government: how to shield sensitive law enforcement investigations from politics without creating prosecutors who can run amok, never to be held to account.
At a time when special counsels are proliferating, the much-hyped investigation by Mr. Durham, a special counsel, into the Russia inquiry ended with a whimper that stood in contrast to the countless hours of political furor that spun off from it.
Mr. Durham delivered a report that scolded the F.B.I. but failed to live up to the expectations of supporters of Donald J. Trump that he would uncover a politically motivated “deep state” conspiracy.
He charged no high-level F.B.I. or intelligence official with a crime and acknowledged in a footnote that Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign did nothing prosecutable, either.
The Washington Post - Opinion - The Durham report is a damning indictment of the FBI - and the media

The Washington Post - The Durham report is a damning indictment of the FBI - and the media
Note that that's not the Washington Post (although they published it), it's an opinion piece by George Bush's former speech writer who has, among other things, defended the use of torture during the Bush administration, and even written a book about it. And the opinion piece is as sloppy as his book was:
Think of what that means: It was the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee that funded the Steele dossier,
He missed the "based on a fact I just made up" at the end of the sentence.
Maybe he's using his column to audition for Fox?
Mr Giuliani asked her “if she knew anyone in need of a pardon” because he was “selling pardons for $2 million, which he and President Trump would split”.
kingdragonfly:
“He told Ms Dunphy that she could refer individuals seeking pardons to him, so long as they did not go through “the normal channels” of the Office of the Pardon Attorney, because correspondence going to that office would be subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act,” the suit added.

Forced to perform sex acts and work in the nude? In this day and age, even with Gulliani, I would think that's unlikely.
The Washington Post - The curious question of the alleged $2 million pardons
17 May 2023
The allegation comes in a lawsuit filed this week by Noelle Dunphy, a woman who worked for former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani from 2019 until 2021. It reads as follows:
“[Giuliani] asked Ms. Dunphy if she knew anyone in need of a pardon, telling her that he was selling pardons for $2 million, which he and President Trump would split.” ...
It’s worth noting that in addition to screenshots of alleged text message exchanges between Giuliani and Dunphy, the lawsuit also includes numerous references to conversations between Dunphy and Giuliani having been recorded. ...
The allegation that Giuliani was offering pardons for $2 million has been made before.
In January 2021, shortly before Trump left office, the New York Times reported that former CIA officer John Kiriakou had been “told that Mr. Trump’s personal lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani could help him secure a pardon for $2 million.”
Kiriakou rejected the request, but an associate worried about the legality of such an offer tipped off the FBI. Kiriakou was not granted a pardon.

kingdragonfly: At times, Giuliani pressed “record” himself on Ms. Dunphy’s cell phone to record their conversations....
That insanity defence (NGRI) is looking more and more plausible...
