Reuters - With trial underway, Trump appeals New York judge's fraud ruling

NEW YORK, Oct 4 (Reuters) - Donald Trump on Wednesday appealed a judge's refusal to dismiss New York Attorney General Letitia James' civil fraud lawsuit against him and his family business, two days after the case went to trial.

The appeal to the Appellate Division, a mid-level appeals court, was filed as Trump sat in a Manhattan courtroom, watching an accountant who used to work for him testify as the state's first witness. ...

The New York attorney general, Letitia James, told reporters on Wednesday that “the Trump show is over” as the third day of the former US president’s civil fraud trial wrapped up in Manhattan.

James and Trump both returned to the trial a day after Trump ran afoul of the judge by denigrating a key court staffer in a social media post.

Outside court, James called Trump’s appearance at the civil trial – which he is not required to attend – a “political stunt” and a “fundraising stop”.

Trump has spent the first three days of the trial attacking James and Judge Arthur Engoron in press gatherings outside court.

He is expected to return to Mar-a-Lago on Wednesday.

A Democratic House member is asking Palm Beach County, Florida, to tax Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property at the rate the former president claims it is worth amid his ongoing civil fraud trial in New York.

In a letter provided exclusively to NBC News, Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla., issued the request to Dorothy Jacks, Palm Beach County's property appraiser.

Moskowitz noted New York Judge Arthur Engoron’s ruling last week saying that Trump repeatedly committed acts of fraud for years. Engoron ruled that Trump lied to banks and insurers by overvaluing and undervaluing his assets while exaggerating his net worth to billions of dollars.

Trump has raged against Engoron’s ruling, insisting that his Florida resort is worth “50 to 100 times” what prosecutors in the New York civil case have said, or “closer to $1.5 billion.”

“Between 2011 and 2021, you value the Mar-a-Lago property between $18 million and $28 million,” Moskowitz wrote in the letter to the Palm Beach County appraiser.

“Mar-a-Lago was listed as worth $490 million in financial documents given to banks,” he wrote. “If the property value of Mar-a-Lago is so much higher than it was appraised, will you be amending the property value in line with the Trump family’s belief that the property is worth well over a billion dollars?”

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Moskowitz, first elected in 2022, is a moderate Democrat who represents a district in Florida that includes parts of Palm Beach County. He is also a member of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability.

My takes on it:

Rudy is a slimy, sleazy POS (John Eastman isn't much better) and the former comes across as an alcoholic
Trump fully knew he lost but was too cowardly to admit it to the world as he thought it would be a sign of weakness
Kevin McCarthy used to be okay but then when he went to Maralago after January 6 to kiss Trump's ring he changed, and not for the better
Matthew Gaetz is a sleazy piece of crap, and I'm astonished any woman would want to be near him. He's also incredibly self-centred.
Trump hates being ignored, and yes, the throwing food at the wall when he's p'd off is fully believable
Trump World is staffed with nothing but Trump's sycophants, including lawyers who tell anyone who's been summoned to court to outright lie in order to make Trump look good.

I'm just glad she found a good lawyer in the end (not the Trump one she was initially provided - see above - who she eventually fired for trying to get her to commit perjury) and was brave and courageous enough to testify at the January 6 Committee hearings, as Christ alone knows she was going to get blowback from Trump and his thugs over it (which she did) - but she stood her ground.

Bible tells us virtually nothing about what he looked like, except that he didn’t stand out in any particular way. When Jesus was arrested Judas had to point Jesus out to his soldiers among the disciples, presumably because they all appeared similar to one another.

So why is Christ white, with light hair and wearing a collared shirt?

Though the Bible doesn't mention his height, scholars and scientists estimate that Jesus' height was about 1.5M to 1.7M, 5'1” to 5'5.” This estimate is based on average heights for men during the 1st Century.

It's also ironic that an African-American thinks Jesus is white.

At least it got his bizarre orange spray tan color correct.

Needless to say, I wouldn't trust Dom Lucre as an eye witness, and recommend he gets an eye test before driving.
