The order from US district judge Aileen Cannon was positive for Trump, who has made no secret that his overarching legal strategy is to delay beyond the 2024 election in the hopes that winning re-election would allow him to pardon himself or direct the justice department to drop the charges.

As part of a plea deal, one of former President Donald Trump's attorneys has told prosecutors in Georgia that she was informed in the wake of the 2020 election that Donald Trump was "not going to leave" the White House -- despite the fact that he had already lost the election and most of his subsequent challenges.

The revelation, along with others, came during a confidential interview the attorney, Jenna Ellis, had with Fulton County investigators. ABC News has obtained portions of videos of the proffer sessions of both Ellis and Sidney Powell, two attorneys who aided Trump's efforts to overturn the election. The videos for the first time reveal details of what they have told law enforcement since agreeing to cooperate last month in the district attorney's election interference case.

Ellis, in her proffer session, informed prosecutors that senior Trump White House official Dan Scavino told her "the boss" would refuse to leave the White House despite losing the election, and alluded to two other instances she said were "relevant" to prosecutors -- but appeared to be prevented from disclosing those in the video portions obtained by ABC News

There are similarities, but they're different people. Note the eye shape (lower lids concave and convex), noses, teeth, hair parting, lower lip fullness.

Former President Donald Trump is headed for a legal reckoning like he has never seen before in 2024 as he mounts another bid for the White House, with multiple criminal trials all over the country.

 

Indeed, wrote analyst Harlan Ullman for United Press International on Wednesday, Trump is in a similar situation to that of an infamous New York mobster.

 

"The New Yorker of Trump's generation who combined celebrity status with an avalanche of trials was another Don - the Teflon Don and crime boss John Gotti," he wrote. ...

 

Gotti was an infamous figure in the '80s, as he stood trial for ordering a hit on a fellow crime boss but beat the rap thanks to bribery and witness tampering.

 

He was nicknamed the Teflon Don because the feds had difficulty making anything stick to him.

 

But ultimately his crimes caught up with him in 1990, after wiretaps in his headquarters at the Ravenite Club caught him freely admitting to wrongdoings, which was used to put him in prison for life. ...

 

"The next year will determine whether Trump is a Teflon or a Velcro Don," concluded Ullman.
