If I were a wealthy Republican who wanted Trump gone, I wouldn't be funding other candidates at this stage. One way or another, Trump won't be able to proceed with his campaign past early to mid 2024, and that's the time I'd be spending up large. As far as wealthy GOP donors go, don't forget the deep-pocketed Kochs. They've made it clear they don't want Trump, but they won't support other candidates until Trump is washed up.

"Paid for by Republicans For Voting Rights"

Raw Story - 'You lost' Billboards

Donald Trump on Saturday heard boos when he arrived at the South Carolina "Palmetto Bowl." He also reportedly saw billboards telling him that he lost. ...

The former president was greeted as he drove into the city by two huge electronic billboards reading: 'You lost. You’re guilty. Welcome to Columbia, Donald.'

The billboards were organized by prominent South Carolina attorney and Trump critic Jay Bender.

New York Times: Trump Has a Master Plan for Destroying the ‘Deep State’

Donald Trump, the former president and current candidate, puts it in apocalyptic terms: “Either the deep state destroys America or we destroy the deep state.” This is not an empty threat. He has a real and plausible plan to utterly transform American government. It will undermine the quality of that government and it will threaten our democracy.

A second Trump administration would be very different from the first. Mr. Trump’s blueprint for amassing power has been developed by a constellation of conservative organizations that surround him, led by the Heritage Foundation and its Project 2025. This plan would elevate personal fealty to Mr. Trump as the central value in government employment, processes and institutions.

It has three major parts.

The first is to put Trump loyalists into appointment positions
...
The second part of the Trump plan is to terrify career civil servants into submission. To do so, he would reimpose an executive order that he signed but never implemented at the end of his first administration. The Schedule F order would allow him to convert many of these officials into political appointees.

Schedule F would be the most profound change to the civil service system since its creation in 1883. Presidents can currently fill about 4,000 political appointment positions at the federal level. This already makes the United States an outlier among similar democracies, in terms of the degree of politicization of the government.
...
The third part of Mr. Trump’s authoritarian blueprint is to create a legal framework that would allow him to use government resources to protect himself, attack his political enemies and force through his policy goals without congressional approval. Internal government lawyers can block illegal or unconstitutional actions. Reporters for The New York Times have uncovered a plan to place Trump loyalists in those key positions.

This is not about conservatism. Mr. Trump grew disillusioned with conservative Federalist Society lawyers, despite drawing on them to stock his judicial nominations. It is about finding lawyers willing to create a legal rationale for his authoritarian impulses.

Media Bias Fact Check: Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies
...
Founded in 1982, The Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies, most frequently called the Federalist Society, is an organization of conservatives and libertarians seeking reform of the current American legal system in accordance with a textualist or originalist interpretation of the U.S. Constitution. In January 2019, The Washington Post Magazine wrote that the Federalist Society had reached an “unprecedented peak of power and influence.” Of the nine members of the Supreme Court of the United States, six (Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch, Clarence Thomas, John Roberts, Samuel Alito, and Amy Coney Barrett) are current or former members of the organization.

Interesting for several reasons. First, I'd wager that Drumpf didn't write this; the grammar is too good for the Loser-in-Chief. Second, in several places it acknowledges Biden to either be President, or have Presidential power. Third: Isn't that cognitive test just the kindergarten-level MAN, WOMAN, CAMERA, CONDOM, PORNSTAR thing? Shucks, even Marjorie Taylor Green could pass that. I think.

MSNBC: A trial delay wouldn’t be the win Trump thinks it is

Facing the prospect of five civil and criminal trials over the course of seven months, former President Donald Trump’s trial dance card is quite full. It’s not at all unusual for criminal defendants to have multiple cases pending against them simultaneously in multiple jurisdictions. This can happen when people choose a life of crime. However, there are only so many days in a week and months in a year. So, what happens when trial dates collide?
...
Let’s start with the most obvious calendar conflict. If Trump’s D.C. insurrection trial begins on March 4, that trial will still be in progress when his New York trial is scheduled to begin. Unlike civil trials, defendants ordinarily must be present for every session of their criminal trial. Under those circumstances, the latter trial would have to be rescheduled to a later date.

There are indications that the judges in these two cases anticipated this conflict. At a court hearing in the federal case, Judge Tanya Chutkan stated on the record that she had spoken with Judge Juan Merchan, the judge presiding over the New York case, and informed him of her intent to set a March 4 trial date. Although Chutkan said nothing about the substance of their conversation, it seems the judges agreed that the federal trial will take precedence over the state trial.
...
the two federal trials, Florida Classified document and DC insurrection trial, are unlikely to collide. Earlier this month, Judge Aileen Cannon extended several filing and hearing deadlines in Trump’s Florida case.

Raw Story - Trump finally pins the blame on Putin in new bid to stay out of jail

28 Nov 2023

For years, former President Donald Trump has avoided agreeing with intelligence assessments that Russian President Vladimir Putin interfered on his behalf during the 2016 presidential election.

Most infamously, Trump rejected the American intelligence community's assessment about Russia's actions at a press conference in Helsinki, Finland where he stood next to Putin and said, "President Putin says it's not Russia, I don't see any reason why it would be."

But it seems that Trump will actually blame Putin for 2016 election interference if doing so will help keep him out of prison.

Politico flags a legal filing by Trump's attorneys this week in which they dispute special counsel Jack Smith's claims that Trump has damaged Americans' faith in the electoral system by essentially arguing that Putin did it first.  ...

What Trump's lawyers leave out is the fact that Trump openly encouraged Russia to hack political rival Hillary Clinton's email server and release her private communications.

Variety: Donald Trump Had ‘List of Demands’ on Set of 2012 NBC Ad, Says Taika Waititi: The ‘Camera Had to Be a Certain Height to Make Him Look a Little Thinner’

“I directed Trumpy,” Waititi told the podcast hosts. “There was a piece of paper with a list of demands. The height of the camera had to be a certain height to make him look a little thinner.”

[For getting a camera white colour calibration balance before a shoot begins, a test card is held up.] Waititi cracked a joke: “I think it had whatever the Pantone for orange was that he had to appear as on screen.”

The director added on a more serious note, “He had a makeup person who was also his ego booster and she would touch him up and say, ‘Oh, Mr. Trump, oh Mr. Trump.'”

Shame there's no camera that'd make Trump into a human being.

I just saw a rip-roaring item on CNN on Liz Cheny's new book, which really tears into the Republican establishment and everything Trump. It sounds like a must read. I look forward to seeing all the gory details.
