JaseNZ:
As far as I am aware the ones tied to the lines were one of the first ones to be removed, it was the one's that were left chained up to the mast I am referring to.
And you'd set sail with people chained to the mast of a boat, knowing they'd probably die?

No they would get wet and cold and probably sea sick and come down by theselves before that happened.

Oh sure. I don't know, but expect they'd locked themselves there and thrown away the keys, seems to be the MO for that kind of protest action.
So when they dies of exposure, you'd be charged with at least manslaughter, reckless endangerment, possibly assault, and probably many more charges in maritime law.
Why wouldn't you do what they actually did - do the right thing call the police - instead of claiming you'd be dishing out vigilante justice?

In our justice system I doubt it very much. Police were called and it took how many days for them to get them off ??.
I am talking about a theorised idea of what would have happened if you had of sailed with them still onboard.

So really the next step for the company that owns the ship is to bring in the lawyers and sue the protesters. I’m sure they will have much deeper pockets than ER. Even if the protestor’s assets are in trusts and they can get FOC legal representation, there is a good prospect of financial ruin. But since that is ER’s ultimate international goal for everyone, I guess they would be comfortable with that.

I'd set sail. meals and bedding are in the brig/spare rooms if required. There is probably some form of maritime arrest that can be made, and I'm sure if they got injured resisting arrest its no different than if Police were involved. Drop them off at another port where there is a NZ embassy presence

You do realise that it's the 21st century?
As for the bleating about supposed lack of or tardiness of police action, write a letter to your local MP or file some other complaint. Those complaints usually include bleating about how the cops use speed cameras for revenue gathering, how they framed Roger Rabbit, and other CT.

LOL I'm not bleating about the police that's the other guy. My suggestion is reasonable. Unless we want to educate these people that they can do what they like and hold everyone to ransom. Do you want the ship held to ransom in port for a year? The ship can go and do its thing, if trespassers want to hang on, they can, and be safe.
So, its over that last have been removed https://www.stuff.co.nz/timaru-herald/news/117703680/more-protesters-removed-from-skandi-atlantic-in-timarus-port
They drove a diesel vehicle to Timaru lol
They say its successful as they delayed exploration, but the ships not leaving till today. They talk about bad laws, the ship doesn't make the law. But they have to go to New Plymouth for another protest. Idiots
gzt: Some of this talk is irresponsible and could lead to people being harmed The reality is no captain will set sail in these conditions. For one simple reason. The captain is responsible for the safety of everyone on board.
The rest is talkback radio fantasy.
Sailing and keeping them safe are not mutually exclusive. If you are talking about safety and being irresponsible , look towards the protesters. What you are suggesting is encouraging illegal and unsafe behaviour. If you wish to encourage lawlessness and anarchy, that's your opinion

Vigilantism is lawlessness and anarchy.
There's been plenty of encouragement for that in this thread.

Yes, but not from me. You can manage safety without cowtowing to what these idiots do.
The vessel was not supposed to leave until Tuesday night 6 hours after they were taken off so the only thing they accomplished were to look like complete idiots IMO. As for my bleat about police well yeah, If somebody was protesting on your front door step and you asked the police to remove them and they said yeah nar sorry will have to wait a couple of day's would you be a little miffed or would you side with the protesters.

In this case, I speculate that the Police knew that today was the sailing date, so no rush. If the protesters had any sense they would have occupied yesterday. Maybe their DIESEL van was due for a service. Plus they have to drive to NP for another booking (protest) so a scheduling problem
