what pisses me off is, this is not a peaceful protest, and all they end up doing is looking like twats to the majority of people. which undermines their cause greatly.
+ look at all those oil based products they brought onboard with them
Just like those people who go around knocking on doors to bother others with their notion of Jesus, these protesters believe they are serving a higher purpose and that justifies the inconvenience they cause. You don't have to agree with them, or accept that they have a right to invade the property of others or break laws doing so, but I think they are just as sincere in their beliefs as any religious proselytiser, and history might even prove them right. Those who are so strongly triggered by this kind of behaviour, might want to ask themselves just what is making them so angry.
Plesse igmore amd axxept applogies in adbance fir anu typos

If they were harmed, you'd probably be charged under criminal and/or maritime law.
Much the same as if someone protested by blocking your car, you can't just run them over.
You'd also win a prize for being more than just a keyboard warrior on Stuff, and get a telling off from some of the other juveniles on the paying field who'd tell ya "two wrongs don't make a right".
An option to run past these idiots is to suggest they go to the Govt and ask them to ban natural gas use in NZ, so we can then import diesel and run smoky generators instead of natural gas in our homes. No exploration, no gas, smoke billowing from many homes, win win.....

so we can then import diesel and run smoky generators instead of natural gas in our homes.
That's not what the options are, and misrepresents natural gas as "clean" - when it's only "cleaner".

Cleaner is better than dirtier. Much like the EV subsidies that will give subsidies to more fuel efficient petrol cars. We cannot ban gas tomorrow or replace every car with an EV tomorrow, so any measure is a sound measure if it reduces emissions

I wonder when brown kids in South Auckland will get the same leniency from the police and courts that these predominantly white protesters usually get.

I found myself wondering the same thing. If they politely told them they were putting to sea in an hour and would like them to hop off.
And then pointed out they would be heading directly out to sea to beyond the twelve mile limit (territorial sea)...

Exactly however I would not be polite I would just tell them we are casting off at 6pm if you are still on the ship you either swim to shore or we start charging you board for a berth, Oh and we only eat meat for every meal.

Hahaha I spent 25 years out at sea for 3 months at a time believe me I am no keyboard warrior and would have no issues letting go the ropes protestors onboard or not.

You'd end up in prison then - on far more serious charges than trespass. I understand that some of the protesters were tied to the lines, but you either don't know that, or are happy to wilfully kill people who would dare to inconvenience you.
Vigilante - and a keyboard warrior.

On what charges though ?? , If nobody was tied to the lines and as the master of the vessel I would make sure of that then I would have no problem heading to sea.
I would never advocate to kill anybody and I think that comment was uncalled for.

Wilfully endangering the lives of, or killing people is okay by you. in retaliation for trespass.
Nice.
(note - you edited your comment, and still seem to be unaware that they were tied to docking lines, and needed to be cut off, by Police doing their job - which is how it should be - not vigilantism - as they didn't threaten your life and safety.)

As far as I am aware the ones tied to the lines were one of the first ones to be removed, it was the one's that were left chained up to the mast I am referring to.
