Trump says it's "Fake news". Now, the news item itself is not fake: there's a report. The contents of the report on the other hand could be even classed as libel. But as far as I am concerned, this is not "fake news". Fake news is publications like Breitbart saying that Obama had death squads to kill people to reduce cost of Obamacare. Or that Obama was preparing to get everyone's guns as soon as he got in power for the second term. Those are fake news.

After the last 24+ hours I hereby unreservedly state that I now believe Donald Trump to be an evil, dangerous ill prepared, dishonest potential tyrant  and the biggest threat to democracy and freedom in the last seven decades. May God help us.

That's a fairly long way from nothing much will happen. I'm curious to know what caused you to move in that unreserved direction. I may have missed something..

This is fake news. A site with CNN in the name, with a logo the same as CNN - but with a .de TLD and look at the contact page.

I just saw some people on Twitter complaining about Twitter being against Trump because of these "news".

The real CNN are okay, apparently, according to Fox News!

“Though we at FOX News cannot confirm CNN’s report,” <Shep> Smith continued, “it is our observation that it’s correspondents followed journalistic standards and that neither they nor any other journalists should be subjected to belittling and delegitimizing by the president-elect of the United States.”

Oh my, I'm enjoying this, watching a President Elect (potty mouthed, serial liar, misogynist, racist) being totally destroyed before he's sworn in.

I see. This is bad. It's a likely consequence of Trump's clueless incompetency in international diplomacy:

Taiwan scrambles jets as China warship enters strait

On top of that Rex Tillerson the Trump pick for Secretary of State has been in the press talking about sending a signal to China in the South China Sea.

I don't know which of the above happened first. It doesn't really matter. It's not good.

Maybe that's not it. China sailed in international waters off the island and they have probably done that before. Anyone know for sure?

How's this Trumps fault? Genuine question.

The ships were in international waters so it's nothing to do with the USA.

Well, as per my post at the top of this page it's probably not the scenario I thought it was. But I'll answer the question because that whole thing is still a live issue and won't be going away tomorrow.

Mr Trump, the next president of the USA, has broken some long standing traditions of USA's China policy. That is destabilising. Ie; taking a call from Taiwan senior and talking about related long standing USA's China policy tradition as silly.

Next to that, Trump's expected Secretary of State (foreign affairs minister) has today been talking about sending a signal to China.

From a stability point of view that is very concerning.

Still waiting to hear from MikeB4 on his turnaround before I cancel my earlier online order for a nuclear winter's worth of baked beans. : )

I just don't think China is going to start Military action over a phone call re trade! There is more to it or less or unrelated to that from my perspective.

Sending a message could be MANY things, not all of them start a World War.

I'm not going to make a call on who starts military action because it won't really matter. Afterwards is what counts. In terms of Tillerson talking about sending a message to China, do you really think this has no effect:

Tillerson in the Senate via Bloomberg: “We’re going to have to send China a clear signal that first the island-building stops and second your access to those islands is also not going to be allowed,”

Increased tension is not good. It does not take much to set it off. Many examples exist of increased tension leading to military things.

Edit: changed 'it' to 'military action' for clarity.
