A sign you are a Monarchy with a King.
Or
Maybe you have a Dictatorship

GOP not even trying to hide it.

I think he'd be fine on the $3 bill.

Or the penny. Which GOP are looking at dumping, as it costs too much. Double meaning there, which I'm sure isn't lost on anyone here

Trump will (briefly) love him for it. America, you're in deeper shit than I already thought.

That's it for the American way of life - The main thing is comfortable, over sweet, greasy, fat and stupid. Sad, but true. Now you're lying on your back like bugs, waving your legs around and, like the sorcerer's apprentice, don't know how to get rid of the ghosts you've summoned yourself.

I know a really good book by one of your compatriots and it might help the smarter ones in your new American „company“:

  • Qui nihil scit, omnia credere debet. - He who knows nothing must believe everything.
  • Firewalls do NOT stop dragons!
  • I avoid Big Tech, they try hard to dictate technology and culture across borders.
  • In effect we have everything to hide from someone, and no idea who someone is.

Agree

Who is alongside this administration?

Lord Heseltine spoke out after the Trump administration, alongside Russia, North Korea and Belarus, rejected a UN resolution condemning Moscow’s illegal invasion of Ukraine. The resolution was backed by 93 nations.

Also the GOP lawmakers who must tow the party line if the value their jobs

Watched a bit of Fox the other night, the glammed up reporter and a Republican based guy. Trey Gordy from memory. Both support UKR and both criticised Trump for the Oval office facade

Protests outside a Tesla building

Citizens going to their local GOP representative to complain

Then there are the many that have/are being fired as part of the slash and burn policy

Overseas aid people who have now has aid support cut off

Global support for UKR and against this administration is high

EU is stepping up

Seems to be a big crowd vs a tiny crowd. This will likely backfire, heightened by todays announcement that support for Ukraine has been paused. (because Trump wants a deal (win)  a peace deal (win and saves $ support) and the minerals deal (win and makes $)

EU is hopefully going to maintain a forward trajectory, the US has stalled and appears isolationist

The ‘Canadiano’–Why Canadian Cafés Are Renaming The Americano, Explained: Forbes

The Americano is getting a rebrand. But this isn’t a seasonal menu tweak or a marketing stunt—this is cultural. Across Canada, coffee shops are swapping the name Americano for Canadiano, a move that started as an inside joke at one café and quickly became a national discussion.

I fear we are seeing a new fascist state being constructed before our very eyes. Contemplating the events of the past week, I can't help but feel Macron and Starmer have a bit to answer for in the lead up to the Zelenski-Trump stoush.

The way they both appeared to rock up to the White House, cap in hand, trinkets outstretched like they were there to bend the knee to King Joffrey at King's Landing was pretty unseemly. It's set an expectation in the already megalomanic mind of Trump that the correct behaviour when meeting him is to bow and scape and kiss the proverbial ring.

Those Oval Office fireside chats in the presence of media serve no useful purpose but to stroke Trump's ego and belittle those world leaders who agree to be part of the charade. It has to be viewed as positive that Europe are going to step it up in aid of Ukraine as well as their own defense.

It shouldn't be forgotten that the reliance of Europe (and many of the rest of us frankly) on the US for security that Trump now bemoans has been actively encouraged for decades by the US to benefit themselves and their industrial-military complex in no small part.

I do wonder, if we continue along this path, how long it might be before the top brass at the Pentagon decide to step in and forcibly end the Trump administration. Hopefully his crackpot economic policy on tariffs brings pressure to bear on him domestically long before then.

Judge Appears Skeptical of Claims That Musk Isn’t Driving DOGE: New York Times

The judge prodded government lawyers for additional clarity on Elon Musk’s role in a case that directly challenges the constitutionality of his operation and his part in the rapid reshaping of government.

A federal judge said on Friday that it seemed “factually inaccurate” for the Trump administration to keep insisting that Elon Musk has no formal position in an operation that has led to mass firings of federal workers and the hobbling of the nation’s foreign aid agency.

The judge, Theodore D. Chuang of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, prodded government lawyers repeatedly for additional clarity on Mr. Musk’s role in a case that directly challenges the constitutionality of the task force known as the Department of Government Efficiency, or the U.S. DOGE Service.

Until this week, government officials had resisted answering inquiries as to who was formally in charge of the task force, except to say that it was not Mr. Musk. (Nor is Mr. Musk among its employees, the government said.) On Tuesday, a White House official said that Amy Gleason, a former health care investment executive, was serving as the acting administrator.

On Friday, Joshua E. Gardner, a lawyer in the Justice Department’s civil division, denied that Mr. Musk had any role with the Department of Government Efficiency. This despite Mr. Musk’s clearly driving its initiatives, including an email blasted out last weekend that attempted to require all federal employees to respond with a list of five accomplishments from the previous week.

On the one hand you could see this as shallow and tactless, in a normal life

But ups to the Canadians, standing up to a super power who should and could be great, but they now arent. Ive spent a good amount of time there, the people are lovely and patriotic.(Americans) That being said, they are now seen as Americans, which Trump is leading. A sad stereotype.

What I bolded. IMHO Trump is an outlier, fragile and weak, but as we have seen he has prime dictatorial attitudes. And he is charismatic. Thats normally a compliment. However, its the ability to talk and convince people, by words, or inherent power. EU have stood up to that as has Starmer and Macron, yes they have pandered, but its pandering for the greater good. Feed the aimless bulldog a steak or two, he will/may be semi reasonable. Didnt work out but not their fault. Since that diplomacy has failed, they have united, we will put feet on the ground and planes in the air. Based on Putins past comments thats a risk.  But the time to stay calm, see what happens is well over. Russia in their future exploits, China, and North Korea are watching this, a line needs to be drawn, and EU are doing just that
