Rikkitic:

I just saw on RNZ that Obama has commuted the prison sentence of Chelsea Manning! Also an item that Wikileaks has said Assange would agree to extradition if this happened! I don't mean to hijack this thread but I feel these events are now intertwined with Trump's presidency. Does anyone know more/have comments?

Manning has served 7 years of a 35 year sentence.

From memory that is in military prison and also from memory things like arbitrary solitary confinement and generally less access and so on when compared to civilian prison.

With the commutation it's now 4 months left.

It's a commutation but not as Manning got off scott free there.

I agree with the republicans...this guy/gal committed treason and it wasnt that long ago he/she would be dead already. I realise what he/she brought to the surface needed to be...but it would have come out on its own eventually...truth always comes out.

I have no time for selfish people who put their colleagues in harms way.

Documents don't walk themselves over to the fax machine in the middle of the night and send themselves to the Washington Post.

It usually takes a whistleblower for the truth to come out because these things are usually classified. As long as they are classified, the only way for them to "come out" is for them to be leaked...by a whistleblower.

I had to look it up:

The Guardian: Bradley Manning leak did not result in deaths by enemy forces, court hears

My personal feeling is Manning would not have expected Wikileaks to release that list.

Toby Keith will perform at inauguration:

If Trump takes that the wrong way Keith can always play the one praising American troops for dropping cluster munitions on Afghanistan. That's always popular!

How about the Tool "Swamp Song" - lyrics

" ... You're wading knee deep and going in.
And you may never come back again. ... "

So um, this article.

Sounds like he has been in contact with the trump administration. I mean announcing he will definitely follow through 24 hours before the US gets Donald.

"Soft Sensuality":

that's the theme for Trump's inauguration, according to the chairman of the president elect’s planning committee

I'm beginning to believe Trump is the Norse Trickster God Loki.

The latest tweet from Wikileaks suggests to me he may actually make good on his promise to allow the US to extradite him. It seems insane to me to volunteer to do this, unless of course there is some agreement in place whereby he is guaranteed presidential pardon by Trump.

Perhaps Wikileaks has serious dirt on Trump they are willing to withhold in exchange for full presidential pardon. Maybe it's the rumored video takes, if they do indeed exist.

In the digital age, the truth always comes into the light. Whether or not it makes any difference is another matter thanks to post truth.

So I am hoping that Trump does in fact, do some of what he promised that I actually liked during the pre-elections:

1) Limit the terms of elected officials.

2) Do more for Veterans (I think the US treats it's vets very poorly overall).

3) Put an end to Foreign Lobbying.

I wasn't too worried about the TPP, I see it as a good thing overall for us, as we lose what was "bad" and probably Trump will be too busy to bother with the threats the USA made if they didn't get the TPP signed.

I thought the article today outlining the transition methods between new and old President at the white house was very interesting.

Meanwhile I read an article where White House people say they have not been contacted by their replacements - of which very few exist - and have not passed information on how to do their current work.

Wait for things to come to a halt.

I don't think many people expect any incoming President to be properly settled or productive for a few weeks. I agree it looks bad, but I guess let's see how things pan out.

The process for switching the residences over is pretty finely tuned usually though, it would be interesting to have been part of that. Time Lapse video would have been super cool.
