Thank Christ my partner recently renewed hers.
Does he not need approval from Congress or someone to do this vain crap?
I assume as soon as he's out of office new passports wouldn't have that hideous image on them.

The Bulwark - State Dept. Finalizing Plan to Put Trump Picture on U.S. Passports
His face on top of the Declaration of Independence is telling. They consider their leader above the law.
Absolutely.
I would go further to say He considers himself to be above the law, with the help of the SCOTUS decision in May 2024 that confirmed the Office of President of the USA is sovereign, so on that basis, as we have seen, he just does whatever he wants and everyone else can go jump.
What's next? He demands that the country be renamed to Trumpland or the United States of Trump or similar.
And overnight we have this:

So the official Whitehouse position on the president, is that he is a king?

JD Vance and Mike Johnson applaud King Charles at the Capitol building in Washington.
The Guardian - Mission accomplished as king’s speech to Congress goes down a storm

Charles quoted Wilde and Dickens in a measured masterclass – and no tirade as yet from the mad monarch in the White House
A flick of Oscar Wilde here, a nod to Henry Kissinger there, a sprinkling of Charles Dickens here, a dollop of Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt there. Job done!
The British monarch mobilised an elite squad of dead white men, leavened with humour and subliminal politicking, on Tuesday in a charm offensive aimed over Donald Trump’s head and squarely at the US Congress.
Judging by the cheers and minute-long applause he received at the end, the soft power flex worked a treat and the special relationship lives to fight another day.

gzt: James Comey indicted on charges of making a threat to the life of the President of the United States:
https://edition.cnn.com/2026/04/28/politics/justice-department-indicts-ex-fbi-director-james-comey-again
Comey took this photo of shells found on a beach and posted it on Instagram. Apparently 86 originated as a restaurant code or slang term for cancelling an order.
<snip>
Funny, I thought of Maxwell Smart (Agent 86) from Get Smart when I first read this.
A quick Google shows 86 as a reference to the slang term, meaning to forcibly eject someone, such as a patron from a bar or casino.
I would say the indictment is way over the top and totally without merit.
I would argue that the picture could be interpreted as anything. It is not necessarily a threat to anyone's life, it may be simply a "coded" way of saying the 47th president needs to be removed from office.
That is a task that Congress should be getting on with.
It's a pity that diplomacy prevented the King from telling Congress today to do just that.
gzt: James Comey indicted on charges of making a threat to the life of the President of the United States:
I obviously watched too many cop shows back when TV was a thing. Personally I thought 86 was a police radio code for homicide. Apparently that is not the case and never has been. Comey deleted the item soon after posting it. In normal circumstances this case would be nothing more than a pointless waste of time.
An alternate version/artist's (satirical) rendition of "the Trump passport":

I bet he would be absolutely beside himself if he saw that one π
28 April 2026
A Secret Service agent hit during the apparent attempt on President Trump's life may have been shot by one of his colleagues.
Cole Allen's initial court appearance heard the agent fired five shots as the gunman tried to storm the White House correspondents' dinner on Saturday.
His shots missed, but the agent himself took a bullet to his Kevlar vest.
[Acting attorney general Todd Blanche] would not disclose details of who was responsible for hitting the agent ...

Those higher [oil] prices are causing rising petrol costs across the world, including in the US, and hurting Trump's political standing ahead of November's midterm elections.
“If the election were in May, Republicans would lose,” Newt Gingrich, the former Republican House of Representatives Speaker, told the New York Times on Tuesday. “The war, the sense of affordability and gasoline – some of that has to be cleared up in order to win. If it doesn’t change, I’ll start tearing my hair out.”
Oh dear. How sad. Never mind.

The White House isn't a good joke teller; it's a joke itself. A "Burger King" is far from being a monarch, let alone a dignitary. Or should I say "Burglar King"? π
