@networkn I think Rob Muldoon, Geoffrey Palmer and Mike Moore still have the lead for that title but she is closing the gap fast

Interesting element to that comment...   two of the three names on your list were only PM for a brief period (less than a full electoral term) following the resignation of a Labour Prime Minister.

If Ardern were to resign, then Kelvin Davis would become Leader of the Labour Party (and conceivably, PM*) and he would almost certainly be rolled in short order by either Robertson or Andrew Little, which could see history repeating itself.

*this would depend on the (supressed) detail of the coalition agreement though.

No chance KD becomes PM. It would be the end of the country :)

I bet $100 right now that the document in question which is suppressed, says WP is second in line to the throne.

...and her response to this simply takes the cake!

She denied she was confused.

Ardern:
"I know what I was talking about. Unfortunately the question I was being asked was something else."

I recall feeling like (both me and wife) every time we have a small baby. It's amazing what lack of sleep does to you. I mean me and my wife.

Whilst I sympathize and have been through having small babies, she chose to come back to work saying she could do both jobs justice. If that's not the case perhaps she might consider stepping down until she can get things straightened out.

The only issue with that, is the replacement is a different type of awful.

I honestly believe that the only reason why Ardern hasn't done the sensible/responsible thing (for her mental health, for her baby's wellbeing, for the economy's sake, and for her personal reputation) and resigned...  Is because of the sheer unsuitability of anyone in the coalition who might replace her.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

I wonder what her reaction would be if it were one of her Caucus that had done this.

Please not Andrew Little again. He was an absolute train wreck on Morning Report. Even when asked a question where he should have been able to shine he would stumble and bumble. Absolutely terrible when in the top job - same as Shearer.  Both of these guys are good performers as Ministers but not PM or Leader of the Opposition material.

I am unsure about both points. I think she has ambition in spades. She has been trying her best to twist things so she can have her anti-nuclear moment and cement her place in history.

Grant Robertson is the person in a pinch I'd pick as her replacement, though I have lost a *lot* of respect for him as the year has progressed. Hearing him interviewed over business confidence actually left me with even less confidence that a) he had a plan to do something about it b) that he thought there was even a problem in the first place. Plus if he's PM it's unlikely he keeps the finance portfolio and the thought of someone else with that role from the coalition scares the living snot out of me.

You know you are treading on thin Ice when Labour cheerleader Soper can't find a nice thing to say about your coalition.

Blatant racism is banned in these forums - perhaps blatant sexism should be too - in this circle-jerk of (probably mainly middle-aged white men) pushing their antiquated conservative patriarchal values on women.

With the "name" for the Government changing from 'Labour led coalition' to 'The Coalition' a signal is being sent that there is a power struggle with in the coalition which could explain some of the mistakes. The distraction would seem to be that power struggle. I would suggest that having tasted the  Prime Minister role Winston Peters is having difficulty in handing back the leadership and his agenda is driving things behind the doors. I wonder how long the glue with adhere to the agreement and I feel that the coalition is in trouble.
