I doubt he specifically said that since it would probably be an impeachable offence. I suspect he has tried to get around it by banning everyone, then making exceptions for 'persecuted minorities'. I think this why the ban has aroused so much anger.

Banning people from countries where most people are muslims, and then opening up for christians. Thats not a muslim ban?

Its like banning all people from an area, and the opening up for whites. If that area is predominantly black, then that in your book isn't banning black people?

I rate the annoyance of the world, and inconvenience to the banned to be a small price to pay so far. All the damage is where it belongs. McCain will have a growing band if respected Senators joining him I feel. Its not good people wanting to overthrow other good people leading the country. I'd wager they are watching for the time to ramp that up. Two weeks in, and here we are.
