GregV: Where is Peter Reader when you need him? :)

Right here. But I can't understand jokes, so obviously I can't understand this candidate.

MikeB4: Hillary Clinton will be the next US President.

You think they can cope with the first woman straight after the first black guy?

I say not.

Trump probably won't get there - but he'll go a long way and scare the bejesus out of the establishment en route.

I am not sure if you mean Trump / Hillary will/won't be selected as Presidential candidates for their parties ... let's say on the off chance they both get selected, which way will you guess?

Now there's a great idea! Kevin Spacey for real President.

They should clone the DNA from Bubbles the chimp (Michael Jackson's "pet"), grow a new chimp and put it in the White House.

Couldn't be any worse than some of the monkeys that they've put in there.

Wait, Hillary Clinton is a woman? I thought she was some sort of early model Terminator. Cyberdyne Systems model T-99 or the like.

Hard to say. I don't think that middle America thinks either can do the job for various reasons, some of which may be regarded as spurious and some not.

Stan: From what I have read Bernie Sanders seems to be not too bad, seems to be doing well too.

He seems to have have a brain and common sense, but I don't think he will get the Democratic nomination.

There have been accusations that the DNC purposely cut the number of debates and scheduled them at low ratings time slots in order to protect Hilary Clinton's lead.

Plus he's probably a bit old - the goal is to get two terms (presidents often achieve more in their second term as the don't need to worry about re-election), he would be 83 by the end of his second term.

People need to remember Electoral Votes are what matters in the election. The votes you are seeing now are the POPULAR votes.

Last election Obama looked to be getting rolled based on popular votes, but he won comfortably and early with electoral votes.

There is next to zero chance of Trump winning, regardless of how popular he might be. If he gets the Republican nominations, Republicans will not get a president for 8 years.

Something I never thought I'd say, but actually Bush would be my pick of the current Republicans. He isn't the war mongering idiot his brother was.

Unfortunately, for me, over the past 10 years I have seen some incredibly disturbing behaviour by Republicans, shocking in fact and this leads me to believe they shouldn't be anywhere near the White House, congress or the HOR.

Personally I wonder if Trump mightn't be best in the long run. In the short term, he would be unimaginably awful. But the backlash might just give America their once-in-a-generation chance at real, meaningful change.

There may not be a long term if he gets his hands on the football.
