I know that Senator Dianne Feinstein of California is not popular with young, hip Californians.

Let's face it, a lot of the same Californians who complain are bland, offering nothing that is stimulating or challenging.

So they give a lot of vapid, non-specific complaints.

Perhaps Mitch McConnell, Minority Leader of the United States Senate, should get a clue.

Former New York governor Giuliani is co-conspirator #1 with Trump in the overthrow of US democracy.

Summary: his reputation went from hero to zero.

The Daily Beast: ‘Come Here, Big Tits’: Rudy Giuliani’s Sex Abuse Accuser Has the Tapes

Rudy Giuliani was caught on audio tape spewing vulgar comments toward a woman who has since accused him of sexual harassment and sexual abuse, according to new transcripts filed in New York Supreme Court by lawyers for his accuser.

Noelle Dunphy sued the former New York City mayor for $10 million in May, filing a 70-page complaint chock full of graphic allegations and text messages. She alleged Giuliani forced her to have oral sex and intercourse with him, in addition to making sexist, racist, drunken, and antisemitic remarks when she worked for him from 2019 to 2021. She also revealed that she recorded some of their interactions.

The Independent: Florida Governor and Presidential candidate Ron DeSantis mocked for dismal turnout at campaign event offering $1 beer in New Hampshire

Ron DeSantis drew only a few dozen people to a $1 beer campaign event in New Hampshire, according to local reports.

The event, held Saturday in Concord, initially drew approximately two dozen people, according to NBC News. The original price for the event — which allows voters to drink a beer with Mr DeSantis — was set at $50, but was later slashed to $1 in order to bolster turnout.

The event reportedly started a half-hour late, and only 30 people were in attendance.

Discussing the event on MSNBC, reporter Jonathan Allen quipped that "maybe [Mr DeSantis's campaign] should have offered something harder ... maybe half a bottle of liquor or something."

He also noted that Mr DeSantis later attended a house party, which only drew about 35 attendees.

The NY Times - Pence Says Trump Pushed Him ‘Essentially to Overturn the Election’

03 Aug 2023

Former Vice President Mike Pence on Wednesday said that former President Donald J. Trump and his advisers had tried to get him “essentially to overturn the election” and that the American people needed to know it.

The remarks, made in an interview with Fox News, are some of Mr. Pence’s most pointed to date about what he experienced in the weeks leading up to Jan. 6, 2021, when he presided over the congressional certification of Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s victory. ...

In a campaign speech earlier Wednesday at the Indiana State Fair, Mr. Pence reiterated his stance that “anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be president of the United States.” ...

[Trump, in a post on Truth Social, said he feels “badly” for Pence, who is struggling to gain traction in his presidential bid.]

Personally I think that young lass could have a very strong case - there are far too many pics of her and Rudy together for him to say "I never worked with her" (a common Trump-esque tactic when backed into a corner).

Musk, Twitter, and conspiracy theorists in the news, again.

Musk's statement that he'd pay people's legal bills, no limits, and $5 will buy you a cup of coffee.

Forbes: Elon Musk Says Twitter Will Pay Legal Fees Of Any Users Punished For Posting

Elon Musk says he’ll pay the legal fees of anyone who’s been “unfairly treated” by their employer for posting on Twitter, according to a tweet sent late Saturday. The only problem? The billionaire owner of the site hasn’t made clear how people should reach out, let alone define what “unfairly treated” might mean.

“If you were unfairly treated by your employer due to posting or liking something on this platform, we will fund your legal bill. No limit. Please let us know,” Musk tweeted on Saturday night.

Musk, who’s known for making late-night tweets that may or may not materialize into company policy, did not send a follow-up tweet to explain the terms of who’s eligible for legal assistance. But many users were very excited about the idea.

An account called Clown World, which posts right-wing oriented content, simply tweeted “Amazing!” But others were skeptical that it would happen at all.

Laura Loomer, a far-right influencer who had previously been banned from Twitter in 2018 for bigoted comments about Muslims, seemed to be bitter about the idea that others might get their legal fees covered.

Loomer regained her account after Musk declared an amnesty for banned accounts at the end of 2022.

“You told me that Twitter couldn’t afford to give me Justice. And now you’re saying there’s no limit to how much you will pay when it comes to other people’s legal fees. It’s so wrong on so many levels what Twitter did to me and my campaign,” Loomer claimed in a very long tweet responding to Musk’s announcement.

“Where’s my justice for all of Twitter’s deliberate sabotage of me which your own legal team even admitted to…” Loomer continued.

Laura Loomer is an absolute nut. Why anyone would pay her any credence whatsoever is beyond me.

Reuters - US Senator Joe Manchin says 'thinking seriously' about leaving Democratic Party

WASHINGTON, Aug 10 (Reuters) - U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, a maverick Democrat who has often bucked party leadership, told a radio station in his home state of West Virginia on Thursday that he is "thinking seriously" about leaving the party.

"I'm not a Washington Democrat," Manchin said in the interview ... "I've been thinking seriously about that (becoming an independent) for quite some time."

Manchin and Democratic-turned-independent colleague Senator Kyrsten Sinema have been thorns in top Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer's side since the party won its majority in 2020. Democrats hold a 51-49 majority, including three independents who caucus with them.

Manchin has used his influence to block legislation that he opposes - including expanding voting rights protections and child tax credits - and to ensure passage of bills he supports, such as a major tax and climate law that passed last summer.

He faces a tough re-election bid next year in Republican-leaning West Virginia, which former President Donald Trump won by almost 39 percentage points in 2020.

Mitch McConnell is an 81 year old Republican United States senator from Kentucky, and second stint as Senate Minority Leader. He recently appeared to have a mini stroke or partial seizure during a speech.

Even more recently event, drowned out by chants of ‘retire’ during speech.
