Reasons suggested by the WH for this don't make sense ie "he was only there to keep an eye on Flynn" (WTF???).

 

More likely his atrocious religious-war-mongering apocalyptic views, comparing himself to Satan and Darth Vadar were upsetting too many of the "establishment" and/or some of his history at Breitbart etc is going to catch up with him.

 

I try not to judge people on how they look, but...

 

 

Maybe it was a dress code problem ...

Last week, Trump declared April 2017 National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, pledging that his administration "will do everything in its power to protect women, children, and men from sexual violence."

I am convinced that Hilary did not get the vote of the majority because she is a woman and was following a black President. Racists and misogynists couldn't allow that.

 

 

That's certainly a perspective that serves current Dem leadership well. Faced with a loss to a rank (indeed, stinking) outsider they could either acknowledge that they just spent eight years either ignoring or failing working people in the US (a hard call for anyone to make), or they could say that those same working people are racists and sexists and didn't support the candidate (basically because they're stupid).

That perspective becomes harder to swallow when you think that the US electorate were non-racist enough to vote for Obama twice, which makes it a stretch to then say they were then, so racist against Obama that they wouldn't vote for a white woman he endorsed. 
Likewise the gender thing (apart from letting the Dem leadership off the hook)...
Both Trump and Clinton won their gender's votes by 12%, which net advantaged Hillary (more women voted than men).

And Hillary arguably had the better of any gender split, being on track to be the first female president (whereas Trump was just another in a long line of rich white men).

Hard to draw a conclusion either way, but interesting that Dem leadership's conclusion is the one that lets them off the hook, and doesn't require them to admit fault or examine their policy platform. Especially to lose to such an awful, awful candidate.

The pain experienced by the US "working class" was an inevitable consequence of the GFC.  It's a fundamental problem - when there's an economic shock, the poor always get hit hardest.  It was actually factions from the right arguing that bailouts shouldn't happen -  the "tea party" and libertarians argument anyway - was to let them fail. That wasn't an option for "moderates" from either side.  

 

I believe that the fundamental change that ultimately resulted in the GFC goes back to the Reagan / Greenspan era, not just the repeated mantra that "greed is good", but to divide and conquer the "working class".  It freaking well worked - you'll find the strongest nationalist support amongst the "working class".  They're the Fox News audience - unfortunately it's the only voice they think they've got.  

 

So Trump jumped on that.  Of course it's sexist.  Also racist - very distressing to some that there was visible social mobility with women and blacks apparently doing better than many of the "proud" white working class American.  Convince them that's a result of "liberal" values, and get them on side to support a right-wing agenda - to protect the absurd notion that the rich are being disadvantaged.  It's f%$^ing nuts.

 

The world has gone backwards. Pussy-grabbing, abusive, openly anti-liberal megalomaniac as POTUS?  Unthinkable - even to conservatives from the Reagan / Thatcher era.
