You are again pushing the boundary of fact.

Apparently there are enough Canadians to have their own battalion.
However that does not say they don't have family or other connection to Ukraine.
Given long running problems have had Ukrainians immigrating for many years.

There was some concern about other people not really understanding what they are getting into.
A brit who has served in Afghanistan and was in Ukraine was interviewed saying that
Anyone, who had never been in a 'war zone', should think again.

Its undoubtedly a very nasty war on the ground with Hospitals, Maternity Hospitals and such not off limits.
WHO has confirmed 19 health facilities destroyed so far in UKR.
If you are a soldier rather than a baby, I guess you can expect even less mercy.

Not humanities best moments.
Especially as heads of Russian Orthodox Church fail to send Putin a very direct message to desist.
Rather encouraging the whole thing about returning the true faith to the land ?

Its shocking. Although I wouldn't call it a humanity bad moment. One person isnt humanity. Same as a previous person who was also governed by an emotional obsession.

In summary Putin is being brutal. News tells us this is normal for him, same playbook, been done before. His ace cards are his oil, and his nuclear weaponry. So, he has free reign. A Youtube detailed clip suggested that an overall takeover of Ukraine cannot happen due to the size and the resistance, he will take the North, East and South, including Kviv, Kharkiv and Odessa, and the water border. Redraw the boundaries, job done. Its over, remove the sanctions.. If the West continues to allow him, so be it. Sanctions must stay. Whats left of Ukraine needs to be added to NATO. Russia'a economy can shrivel up. Then Putin can be backed into a corner militarily, economically, and politically, he can answer to his people. A brit women had a speech tonight, ending in Putin must fail, that has to be the endgame here.

Oh, that’s wonderful,” Trump said Feb. 22 on the “Clay Travis and Buck Sexton” show, referring to the troops as “the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen.”

Of course, it turns out that Putin launched an invasion of all of Ukraine. With Ukraine putting up a gallant fight and the United States and its allies imposing harsh sanctions on Russia, Trump on Monday issued a defensive statement repeating falsehoods he regularly made during his presidency.

With Trump, it’s hard to know if he’s willfully ignorant or if he has simply swallowed his own spin. Far from being a savior of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, he frequently sought to undermine it. Here’s a quick guide to what’s wrong or misleading in his statement.

“It was me, as President of the United States, that got delinquent NATO members to start paying their dues, which amounted to hundreds of billions of dollars.”

I hear Trump might be seeking re-election next term and that if he gets in (unlikely imho) US focus could shift to China, leaving the EU more or less facing Russia alone.

America apparently dropped the Two Front War doctrine in 2012.

Admittedly the prospect of EU without USA seems far less scary following the underwhelming performance of Russian forces and Germany's rearmament U-Turn. :)

I read (WP possibly?) Biden's one term tenure and Trump possibly running again factored into Scholz's decision to rearm.
