From the Washington Post

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/05/11/president-trump-just-decimated-the-white-houses-entire-comey-narrative

"President Trump just decimated the White House’s entire Comey narrative"

"I wrote Wednesday that the White House’s explanations for firing James B. Comey were crumbling. Well, President Trump just exploded them.

In one fell swoop, Trump totally contradicted his three top spokespeople and offered a polar-opposite version of events than they had provided.

After they had spent the past 45 hours emphasizing that this was a decision Trump arrived at after receiving a memo and recommendation from Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein, Trump just blurted out that he was going to fire Comey all along. Basically, he admitted the memo was a ruse and a political ploy.

Here’s what Trump told NBC News’s Lester Holt:

HOLT: Did you ask for a recommendation?

TRUMP: What I did is, I was going to fire Comey. My decision. It was not . . .

HOLT: You had made the decision before they came in the room.

TRUMP: I was going to fire Comey. There’s no good time to do it, by the way.

HOLT: Because in your letter, you said, ‘I accepted their recommendation.’ So you had already made the decision.

TRUMP: Oh, I was going to fire regardless of recommendation.

But that's not what White House press secretary Sean Spicer said this week — not by a long shot."

Politics are far more partisan over there now, so Trump may actually get away with any alleged wrongdoings on his part.

It's becoming increasingly hard to deny that Trump is corrupt, and possibly even a traitor to his country. But the Republicans are putting party before country, so the extent of this may not actually ever come to light.

Unless Trump is putting himself ahead of both the GOP and the country.... that would get the Republicans riled.

And who could deny that that is exactly what Trump is doing?

Now Trump has issued an executive order for an investigation into voter fraud (the voter fraud for which there's no evidence anything significant happened - on either side - not even Trump's lawyers believe that there was voter fraud) headed by Kris Kobach - who's renowned for favouring voter suppression - making it as difficult as possible for minorities, the poor etc to vote.

Another evil anti-democratic move by the god-emperor.

In spite of crap like this, I get the sense more and more that America under Trump is spending all of its energy chasing its own tail. With all the internal disputes, investigations, controversies, chaos and the like, when does anyone have the time or concentration or sense of direction to actually get anything done? Maybe this is what the Russians wanted to achieve with their Manchurian candidate, just keep everyone who might get in the way going around in circles while others pursue their agendas.

I think that the Russians certainly want to destroy faith in liberal democracy, and yes - that's what they're achieving.  Trump possibly or even probably doesn't know he's the Manchurian Candidate, I'm pretty sure he's totally convinced that he's a popular leader, got there entirely on his own, his ties to Russian oligarchs are coincidental/irrelevant, that the Democrats did have 3 million illegal votes, that he deserves to be much more popular than Obama who was destroying the USA, that climate change is fraud, that the USA was weak militarily.
The GOP is of course quite happy to have an idiot as POTUS - it's hardly a new thing for them. Trump probably presents some challenges due to his need to have his narcissistic temperament massaged (past idiots "W" and Reagan had something possessed by decent people - an ability to accept criticism and a sense of humour).  Trump's not even half decent - he's 100% indecent.

The downside of course if that there's kickback on US influence - Holland, South Korea, Canada, France - there's certainly alt:right presence, but I suspect that the "Trump effect" is getting liberal voters off their backsides.
I'd also wager that if the Brexit vote had been held after Trump was elected, and that Trump would of course have been pro-Brexit - then he's so despised in the UK, he'd possibly have been the kiss of death for the Brexiteers.

Trump = Inventor of Showboat and Grandstander. I guess there's only room for one on Trump's podium.

I am not convinced that the Russians had and significant influence on the US election, it is likely that they tried but their success was probably limited. As for the Manchurian Candidate thing I don't buy that.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Yeh. They didnt elect Mariene Le Pen.

But this thread is about Trump. I think he is somewhat crazy. However, my analysis shows he just executes the job poorly.

Let me expain.

The democrats wanted Comey gone.

This deputy Attourney General guy asks 7 different justices for feedback on Comey, and makes a recommendation to fire him.

Trump Fires him

Then the whitehouse press sec's (Spicer and Sarah Huckabee) try to talk a load of bollocks that is not consistant with Trumps reasonings.

Then Trump talks some junk on CNN because these clowns didnt get their story straight.

I actually don't think there is a big Russia election thing, but there is probably something dirty going on. I don't actually think its Russia. I think its probably a corrupt group of individuals with a lot of cash.

If Trump could manage the white house better the fallout would not have been what it is.

We have not seen the last of it. And I dont suspect anything will surprise you anymore when it comes to American Politics. This is just the beginning. Hold on, there is while to go.
