Only a matter of time before this "deal" goes pear-shaped unfortunately. As with everything the Orange Buffoon touches, it was always high on self-aggrandisment and low on commonsense and workable details.

That said, Israel can't help themselves and neither can Hamas ... it's their natures.

As far as I can make out Trump is talking about countries in the region taking on some kind of peace-keeping role - 41:57 - 45:22.

Trump wants news bites. Netanyahu wants no Palestinian state, so he will fawn Trump.  Now that the ceasefire is holding many Palestinians are returning to the home, albeit rubble. Now, Trump will probably authorise Israel to go hard, with Palestinians walking into the firing line thanks to Trump.

Agree, but Hamas has executed some people, the Trump said is ok as they are bad. New minnit Trump may allow Israel to start firing at Hamas, when the populous are now returning.

Protest in Auckland should be smaller now, as the Activists can't in good conscience catch the train , ...

"At the end of September, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights added the Spanish rolling stock manufacturer CAF to its blacklist of companies conducting business in the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel."

With the partial withdrawal of Israeli troops Hamas will be trying to curtail the activities of people like Yasser Abu Shabab:

ABC: Israel said Hamas was looting aid — then [Israel] armed the gangs who were actually stealing it: The United Nations has identified Abu Shabab's gang as one of those raiding aid convoys when they entered Gaza, saying they were doing so with the apparent protection or indifference of the Israeli military.

Former French diplomat Jean-Pierre Filliu, who spent one month in Gaza with Doctors Without Borders from December 2024 to January 2025, said he witnessed the gang being protected by the IDF while looting trucks.

"The Israeli military recognised its inability to promote a clan-based alternative to Hamas and decided to rely more or less openly on organised crime," he wrote in Le Monde.

"The key figure in this manoeuvre was a previously minor member of a Rafah family, Yasser Abu Shabab, whom Hamas had imprisoned in the past for his various trafficking activities. But Israeli protection allowed Abu Shabab to substantially expand its activities and poach, from other clans, some 100 loyalists ready for anything, often ex-convicts.

Hamas views guys like that as guilty of treason and collaboration with the enemy. Many countries have a death penalty for treason.

Personally I disagree with any execution without trial and disagree with death penalty anywhere. Gaza is effectively being run under martial law at this time by the Hamas military. It is basically an active war with a temporary truce in place which may lead to better things. I also disagree with Israel's targeting of government infrastructure in Gaza and targeting of government employees. If there was a functioning court system I think you'd see some more normal approach to these issues.

Spanish CAF workers agree and have demanded CAF ceases supply of projects in the occupied territories:

It's not exactly a blacklist. As I understand it, the list has been reviewed yearly since 2023. Entries are removed if no longer relevant.
