And thus he knows there is no US attack pending. So his antics are purely to rule his people with an iron fist. But its looks poor when he is constantly allowed to get away with it, and China the only friend to PRNK, watches. If this was 1960, then PRNK has every right to expect a possible US attack, but its not.

We are the fools

An escalation on the part of the US could only make matters worse, and turn what is just a blowhard showing off to his people into something much more dangerous.

To be honest I'm surprised the current US administration hasn't escalated matters - nothing rallies the masses like a common enemy. Perceived or real makes little difference.

I dont recall the US ever escalating to be honest. PRNK escalates, others respond

Id like the US to cease all contact with PRNK, directly and indirectly. Attend no meetings on it. Just maintain their forces where they are now for "the" PRNK attack, zero trade of any sort. Should anything happen, that's on China. And as PRNK has stated that they are building capability that reaches the US, the US can freely state that should anything happen, it will be responded to. Every missile that hits Japan or SK, gets a 100 back. Any nuke that detonates in SK or Japan territory means Pyongyang is nuked. Then walk away, leave them to it, dont waste any more time. One day PRNK will destroy some lives, on purpose or by accident. The IS is better off to leave PRNK as a China problem

That's what I'm saying, US hasn't escalated and it actually surprises me a little as it would potentially make a good distraction for the Trump administration.

I think we are actually in agreement though that PRNK are not a legitimate threat to USA, so USA can just stay out of it.

Yeah, it tales the high road, avoids wasting time on a cause that offers no negotiation for settlement, and if it turns to custard China has the dirty hands. That then becomes a silent and pseudo dig by the US at China, who is off course, the pretender to being the No.1 economic superpower. They wont want to be seen as bad by the rest of the globe, a culture thing.

Maybe a full blockade on Nth Korea maybe a start...they are getting away with one in the Gulf.

But that leads to a river of blood too; if Kim has serious reason to believe he's about to go down, he will take anyone he can with him. Even if we had a magical way of stopping any further nuclear or missile development, he can kill tens or hundreds of thousands of South Koreans any time he wants, between his ancient but still quite deadly artillery and the million North Korean soldiers all lined up against the DMZ with their also ancient but still quite deadly machine guns and tanks.

Sure, they'll all be dead soon too, but that's the point: if Kim thinks he's about to lose, he'll kill everyone he can as a final revenge.

EDIT: Also, full blockades aren't very useful. NK already has very tight sanctions against them and Kim still manages to find ways to import Mercedes cars and caviar. The only people who suffer are the poor innocent citizens.

Seems we agree that it has to be stopped somehow.

There is no solution to the North Korea problem that doesn't involve rivers of blood. It's like the climax of a Tarantino movie, where everyone has a gun against someone else's head. Eventually someone blinks, and then everyone dies.

Kim couldn't even step down if he wanted to, because if looked like he was going to, he would be dead and replaced with another dictator within hours. As sad as it is, the only thing we can do is nothing.

If rivers of blood is the only solution then it has to be....of course serious attempts at other means need to come first. The world CANNOT tolerate a rogue state with nuclear capabilities threatening other Countries.

One could make the case that the USA meets the definition of  "a rogue state with nuclear capabilities threatening other Countries"

Yep. North invaded South. No amount of US troops, napalm, can beat hidden guerilla's. Different ball game now. Nuked and gone. Their nuclear sites at least. However, China is the new player. I believe China is very happy with the way it is today. US at arms length in the region, as that's China's region. It all comes down to KJU's trigger finger, and much more so, causing deaths by way of a test accident. China being there does mean a stalemate which is a good thing, but it also keeps the issue alive.

Does the US not abide by the UN rulings on nuclear capability and testing? The US is FAR from cool. but NK, (best not to call them PRNK) is a very bad apple causing grief to SK and Japan

A Nuclear strike on North Korea, which I believe will not happen, will affect and cause fatalities far wider than the Korean peninsular. Main Land China, Japan and Russia.

India, Pakistan, and Israel are not signatories to the NNPT.

DPRK actually was - but pulled out during GWB's first term as POTUS.

Klinger wasn't transgender. He was transvestite, something altogether different. No problem at all with marines in miniskirts storming the barricades.

And he was only a pretend transvestite at that. He was just after a Section 8.
