I think America was well divided before Trump came along, and that division enabled him to win.

Make sense then that he would stoke it along - to keep office.

Actually, this whole farce makes more sense if you assume that Trump really doesn't want to be President.

But he won't resign, because that would mean a colossal loss of face.

So he rolls along, doing whatever he feels like doing, caring nothing about how outrageously he comes across, or about the consequences of his actions.

I've cracked it! Parsing Trump makes much more sense once you realise he’s a huge SpongeBob fan, and made a vow to live every day as if it’s Opposite Day. Go ahead. Try it. Let’s take something he’s recently said and reverse it. Does it now hold true?

Maybe he should just give his phone to Barron for a week & let him tweet on his behalf?

Trump says 'I'm not a racist

Asked by a reporter in Florida whether he was a racist following reports that he said immigrants from Haiti and Africa were from "s----hole countries" in a closed-door meeting with lawmakers, Trump said: "No. I'm not a racist. I'm the least racist person you have ever interviewed."

I saw an article today saying Trump is the most racist president since Woodrow Wilson (1913 - 1921)

He may or may not be, I don't really know. Nixon did set that bar quite high ...

It has me wondering how you accurately compare the views of a contemporary president who can tweet every minute to someone even a recent as the 1980s when comms were much more sparse and various *isms were accepted or tolerated.

We get a lot more insight into Trump than we do into Regan or into Bush Senior.

He's not racist, he just hates everyone that isn't him.

Someone like Donald Trump is an enabler of genuine evil. His words, uninformed as they are, encourage those who would tear down the values that make us human. He spreads decay by belittling decency and welcoming dark things that dwell within the underbelly of moral depravity. The stench of putrification that follows him does not come from the swamp he talks about draining, but from his own decayed soul. He is a shallow man, distracted by glitter and stroked by flattery. He lacks the intelligence and comprehension to do truly evil things himself, but his crude words and gestures give those who would, license to emerge from their snakepits and hiss their malevolent incantations. Without knowledge or grace, he is easily led by those who seek power and influence.

Shouldn't that be the majority get the government they deserve? Except in this case it's a minority. Which means the people did not deserve this guy.

Arguably they do. There were those who voted for him, and those who didn't care enough to vote against him.

A little off topic, but I just watched the first episode of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, where David Letterman interviews Barack Obama. It is just insane listening to Obama's intelligent and articulate thoughts and speech and then comparing to Trump.

I would have loved if they had discussed Obama's thoughts on Trump, but unfortunately they didn't specifically broach the subject. I imagine it was a condition of Obama appearing that he didn't want to spend the entire interview slinging sh*t at Trump, I guess he has more class than I would in that situation.

and those who were actually excluded from voting, or thought they were.

So why is Obama so despised by some?

 - "uppity"

Trump isn't racist (/s) - he likes people of colour to know their place in his mentally deranged and hateful world.

New Yorker cover responds to Trump’s profane remarks by putting him in a literal hole

ON THURSDAY, The Washington Post reported that President Trump, in discussing immigration and the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program or DACA, decried protections for immigrants from what he called such “sh*thole” countries as Haiti, El Salvador and African nations.

By Friday, freelance artist Anthony Russo had turned around, in creative response, the latest New Yorker cover, titled “In the Hole.”

The art tellingly does not show Trump’s face, instead letting the reader visually infer the president’s presence from the buttercream-colored comb-forward hairstyle peeping out of the dark hole.
