USA TODAY - Democrats introduce 'PARADE' Act aimed at Trump's military celebration

House Democrats on Thursday introduced the "PARADE" Act - otherwise known as the Preventing the Allocation of Resources for Absurd Defense Expenditures bill - which aims keep taxpayers from footing the bill if President Trump's dreams of a military parade do, indeed, come to fruition.

Republican Marc Veasey, D-Texas, introduced the legislation: "An expensive political ploy whose sole aim is to boost Trump’s approval ratings is an insult to their service and detracts from resources needed to provide meaningful assistance to veterans and current service members."

So proclaims animated President Trump to open the premiere of 'Our Cartoon President,' Showtime’s half-hour comedy, created by Stephen Colbert and his 'Late Show' executive producer Chris Licht, that kicks off a 10-episode run Sunday.

The 'satirical view of the president, his family and his inner circle when the cameras are off,' as Licht describes it, was born out of the writers thinking about documentary-like access: What if a camera crew were invited to follow Team Trump to both wings of the White House, recording oddball moments even more faithfully than Michael Wolff did?

The striking result is that although lines like Trump’s 'crushing it' are meant as satire, this cartoon president shows some warmth. Trump might be the butt of venomous barbs five nights a week on 'The Late Show,' but for the sake of a narrative comedy, Colbert’s cartoon Trump is often a yellow-orange buffoon who would not be entirely out of place on 'The Simpsons,' 'Family Guy' or 'The Flintstones.'

Washington (CNN) President Donald Trump still isn't buying that Russia interfered in the 2016 election.

Even as his intelligence chiefs unanimously told a Senate panel Tuesday that Russia meddled in 2016 and is planning to do so again in 2018, three sources familiar with the President's thinking say he remains unconvinced that Russia interfered in the presidential election.
While this issue is separate from the question of whether Trump campaign officials colluded with Russian officials, to Trump the issues are interwoven, the sources say.
He views the notion that Russia meddled in the election as an argument that he had help to win, and that he didn't win the election on his own.

The prime minister of New Zealand may have a new nickname on the international stage - “the anti-Trump”.

That’s according to the fashion bible Vogue, which profiled 37-year-old Jacinda Ardern for its March issue, shooting the prime minister on a windswept North Island beach wearing clothes by New Zealand designers in a picture that is being described as “beautiful” and high fashion.

“New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, Is Young, Forward-Looking, and Unabashedly Liberal,” the magazine’s headline read. “Call Her the Anti-Trump.”

“We’re small,” Ardern says of New Zealand’s standing on the global stage. “But we do our bit by standing up for what we believe in.”

Maybe time for the USA to put razor wire fences around schools & to have an entry point with armed guards. Maybe do a psychological profile for each student & those who are happy & with friends be given a swipe card with face id to get in. Everyone else will have to go through airport type security. I know it might seem unfair on the lonely & bullied, but in almost every student shooting the person turns out to be isolated, lonely, bullied, radicalised, etc. A system like this would not be perfect but would be an improvement, seeing the USA has over 300 million guns in circulation, & a congress heavily influenced by the NRA.

Not good enough. The class teachers also need to be armed with fully automatic belt fed squad assault weapons with minimum 250-round belts, and have access to RPGs and mortars if required, although for safety reasons these will be kept in a locked storeroom. Students shall bring their preferred weapon to all classes but must provide evidence of proficiency if the weapon calibre is .50 or greater. No student shall be permitted to carry more than 3 concealed pistols at once.

Disadvantaged students who are unable to provide their own firearms will be issued with an M1911 semiautomatic pistol and a spare magazine.

If a student leaves his/her smartcard at home, they would be allowed in after going through the security check point - similar to security at airports. If there is a shortage of people to do these checks draft in the military. NZ did this in 2001. I remember going through a security check at Christchurch airport & this was done by sailors from the navy.
