SJB:  Rudy Giuliani files for bankruptcy after $148m defamation verdict - BBC News

Inevitable.  πŸ˜Ÿ

Note that declaring bankruptcy does NOT protect him from payment of penalties for defamation (an "intentional tort" in legal jargon).

Georgia law:

A civil case award is not "dischargeable". In English, there's still liens against all Rudy's property and earnings, now and in the future till he pays it all.

The only way to get rid of the lein is Rudy paying the debt.

Ask the many Georgia deadbeat dads who tried to defeat a civil case ruling, and the Republican state senators who wrote the provisions targeted at deadbeat dads.

He does get an automatic stay: a protective shield that goes up around Rudy the moment the bankruptcy case is filed.

Rudy's creditors are not allowed to attempt to collect against the debtor or take the debtor’s property unless they first get permission from the bankruptcy court.

I suspect this stay aint going to last too long.

The NY Times - Ex-NYPD Officer Sentenced to 22 Months for Her Role in Jan. 6 Riot

19 Dec 2023

A former New York City police officer was sentenced on Tuesday to 22 months in prison for her role in the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, during which, federal prosecutors said, she pushed against and slapped police officers while yelling and wielding a tambourine. ...

She is among more than 1,200 people - and one of at least 15 with law enforcement ties - to be criminally charged in connection with the Jan. 6 riot ...

Presumably she won't be allowed to wield her tambourine in prison.   😢

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Thank you Trump. You've been a fantastic Judas goat If America isn't a totalitarian regime at the end of 2024, it'll be stronger because of you.

Too bad about the damage to the Supreme Court though, but that's partially down to Ginsburg not retiring before she died at 87, when she had the chance of the beginning of Obama's term.

Scalia also died during Obama's term. He was a conservative. But even before Obama had named Garland, and in fact only hours after Scalia's death was announced, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell declared any appointment by the sitting president to be null and void. He said the next Supreme Court justice should be chosen by the next president.

And yet the same Mitch was almost falling over himself to get Amy installed in the Supreme Court before the 2020 election. Hypocrite much? πŸ™„

The way the US political and justice system is set up it's what I would expect to happen with both sides.

Surprise, when you appoint judges by political leaning you get what you see now, two different laws instead of one. Bloody madness.

And it runs all the way through their legal system, local governence, and even law enforcement.

You get what you sow.

ROFL. Elon Musk’s ‘anti-woke’ Grok AI is disappointing his right-wing fans - The Washington Post

Decrying what he saw as the liberal bias of ChatGPT, Elon Musk earlier this year announced plans to create an artificial intelligence chatbot of his own. In contrast to AI tools built by OpenAI, Microsoft and Google, which are trained to tread lightly around controversial topics, Musk’s would be edgy, unfiltered and anti-“woke,” meaning it wouldn’t hesitate to give politically incorrect responses.

That’s turning out to be trickier than he thought.

Two weeks after the Dec. 8 launch of Grok to paid subscribers of X, formerly Twitter, Musk is fielding complaints from the political right that the chatbot gives liberal responses to questions about diversity programs, transgender rights and inequality.

“I’ve been using Grok as well as ChatGPT a lot as research assistants,” posted Jordan Peterson, the socially conservative psychologist and YouTube personality, Wednesday. The former is “near as woke as the latter,” he said.

The gripe drew a chagrined reply from Musk. “Unfortunately, the Internet (on which it is trained), is overrun with woke nonsense,” he responded. “Grok will get better. This is just the beta.”

So far, however, the people most offended by Grok’s answers seem to be the people who were counting on it to readily disparage minorities, vaccines and President Biden.
