kingdragonfly: that no one even centrally tracks the counts anymore.

especially when the Host has a 10000x "view" algorithm and simply scrolling passed it is counted as a view. Musk is doing himself no favors with X, taking on the UK PM with childish taunts and fanning the riot flames (freespeech as long as you listen to Elons version), I sometimes wonder is he properly socially/emotionally developed.

Speaking of, that "Chat" has got Union workers all worked up, to be fair Trump kinda through him under the bus, but particularly UAW with this lawsuit.

Here Shaun Fein from UAW talks to CBS about Trump and Musk and its pretty on point, Trump just wants to talk a big game about the working class but ultimately its Biden who brought the jobs and its a legacy situation where it will pay off more in decades to come. He doesnt pull any punches here. about 11:00 in.

Inflation down below 3% for the first time since the pandemic, this could seriously dent one of Trumps only two supposed benefits (being a reality TV guy who lost a $400m inheritance over and over, somehow makes him a money guru).

Illegal immigration is way down too. That combined with Trump squashing the bipartisan border bill that was the republican wish list, given Harris is explaining Trump did this selfishly to have something to campaign on, the more that becomes common knowledge, I can see more flipping.

Hopefully the Fed cuts rates by at least 0.25%, remotely possible 0.5% in Sept, that will help a lot of peoples in many ways.

"Kamala Harris economic plan to focus on groceries, housing and healthcare"

Brilliant, Kamala is already bringing the substance on fixing the issues facing lower-mid socio economic US. From reading this she will be contrasting this with what Trump has said he will do ie import tariffs, to inflation etc, beginning at her upcoming North Carolina rally.

This woman is not playing. She is literally making Trump look like both a liar and a fool, which he is, add on sxl abuse, civil fraud, 34 count felon its endless. Its just fascinating seeing someone turn the tables on a Bully and make them look weak sauce the way she is. Vance too to be fair.

A couple of interesting CNN analysis pieces on the state of the election:

https://edition.cnn.com/2024/08/15/politics/trump-attacks-harris-analysis/index.html

And for most of Trump’s speech on Wednesday, he appeared to still be playing to the base voters who adore him rather than trying to appeal to a more centrist audience. Indeed, he even mocked the idea of giving a serious speech — perhaps annoyed by Republican former office holders – like former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Trump’s erstwhile primary foe, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who pleaded with him to focus.

https://edition.cnn.com/2024/08/16/politics/trump-fury-harris-switch-campaign-analysis/index.html

Deep into his ranting news conference on Thursday, former President Donald Trump told a truth that explained everything : “I’m very angry at her.”

He was referring to Vice President Kamala Harris, whose late entry into the general election race has left him bitter, disoriented, and mourning the loss of the old campaign — the one he was winning against President Joe Biden.

The ex-president insulted his way into the Oval Office in 2016 — when his often-unhinged soliloquies that shattered all the rules of decorum and politics delighted grassroots Republican voters craving an anti-establishment revolution. But eight years on, the now-familiar act is getting tired, a reality that’s been thrown into sharp relief now that Trump is facing a new campaign against younger, more energetic opponent rather than a re-run agains 81-year-old Biden.

Man, the orange buffoon really needs to get over this eh - Joe's dropped out, Kamala's in the running, it's not going to change. He needs to sort out his policies and go after her on that - not her appearance or ethnicity. Otherwise he just comes across as angry and petty (which hopefully turns voters off).

It was his election to WIN but now it is his to lose AND he is now losing and perhaps has lost.

He can not forgive, forget or move on. Even his handlers are tearing their hair out. Stalwart republicans are turning their backs on him.

EDIT: spelling correction (Thx Batman) - contradicted one of my earlier posts about checking before posting ☹️

These two points are vital to the Dems. He is being trolled but he doesnt know he is inside of it so just keeps feeding it rather than sticking to 1. The border, which he stopped a bipartisan Republican wish list Border Policy, selfishly to have something to campaign on and Harris is pointing it out.

2. Inflation/Economy, both not Universal to the US, and both point one and two are related, Harris is also articulating this, but is negating anything Trump says about it, by uniting with the people by agreeing prices are too high and has substance behind what she plans to do about it vs Trumps disastrous ideas like import Tariffs which will just spike inflation.

In general her Strategists are running rings around his, he does have one of his controversial 2016 guys coming back on board, but I just dont know if its too late to reverse the negativity and lie after lie associated to his brand.

You had the Republicans for Harris, you now have the Evangelicals for Harris who are trying to attract other Christians who bought into Trump by showing how he does not represent their biblical values.

again her unfavorable has reduced below 4pts now, where Trump has shot back into the 9s, now doubt an indicator of general public sentiment.

I'm sure he would love to take this up to the Supreme Court and get his friends to mandate Joe Bidden return. He'd probably just say the change caused distress, so your argument is invalid, covfefe.

Trump is probably stuck with D.J Vance as he needs Elon Musks megaphone and money.
Peter Thiel's money and connections to more donors who want to keep their venture capital rolling from same.
He and followers who have given up on democracy, seeking a 'good for them' dictator.

Trump also has to keep his Evangelical, Catholic, Protestant Christian Right who just find D.J Vance's meanness on top of Trumps so much in line with what they think 'Jesus would do'

That sector that are looking for that meanness of spirit and wanting to get revenge for the rapture having not arrived..

Give Elon whatever he wants, seem to be just fine with autocracy and setting up an oligarchy.
When you look at the polls its astounding that's its so many.

Trump would have to replace DJ with another person thats the same to keep his base happy.
Ramaswamy while ideologically a fit would cause other problems for his base.

So.

Trump may be onto something as these mean spirited do turn out to vote.
Turn out is a big problem in USA and it seems to be to Trumps benefit.

Big tough Vance say "stop calling me weird, or I'll tell my new step-daddy on you!" :)

The Hill: Vance says Democrats are engaging in ‘schoolyard bully’ attacks

Senator JD Vance said in a Sunday interview that Democrats are engaging in “schoolyard bully” attacks by calling the GOP ticket “weird.”

“It drives home how they’re trying to distract from their own policy failures. I mean, look, this is fundamentally schoolyard bully stuff.

They can accuse me of whatever they want to accuse me of.

I’m doing this because I think that me being vice president will help improve people’s lives, so I accept their attacks, but I think that it is a little bit of projection
...
So I think that what it is is two people, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, who aren’t comfortable in their own skin because they aren’t comfortable with their policy positions for the American people

So they’re name-calling instead of actually telling the American people how they’re going to make their lives better. I think that’s weird, but look, they can call me whatever they want to”
