What the hell. Talk about a waste of court time 😠 She screwed up and now wants the court...to sort out her screw-up. I hope this totally fails (like her party is going to).

Hilarious because they have two people on the list and there's no way they're going to break 5% and get one into parliament let alone the 30 they want to add to that list of two.

She's absolutely lost the plot!

I believe she admitted initially she admitted that she (or her team) were responsible for the screwup: https://thespinoff.co.nz/live-updates/19-09-2023/liz-gunn-party-only-registers-three-candidates

but now after party lists have been sent out, etc she wants to add more? I hope the judge tells her where to go. Own your mistake and live with it, idiot. And Liz, there's no way you can hold a candle to Hillary.

Of course, she won't own her mistake now - everyone else will get the blame for this, including the media, the Electoral Commission, the UN, blah blah blah. Classic Trump tactic 🙄

Another poll that doesn't bode well for Christopher Luxon's dream of a National-Act (only) government.

Umm, maybe some will vote for Gunns by accident :-)

Its kind of a win, win, for her supporters, as it feeds their sense of persecution.
So incompetence gets rewarded. Donations from crazies flows in?

Interesting to note that not so long ago there were arguments about lowering the minimum threshold. Yeh Nah.

The recovery of NZF shows that a party organization with a link to a real part of electorate can make that.

Watching interviews its true you would not know it as press knows well how 'off the rails' Winston can get.
John Key was a masterclass in sliding away from this and moving onto the 'Key' points :-)
Interviewers knowing this were probably easier to get to move on as you are not getting a reaction.
With Winston its light blue paper and stand back :-)

It's also interesting to note how insistent the argument is that he is very damaging to any new Government, must be kept away from cabinet room.
However the argument is also strongly put that he did nothing to derail Labour last time he had power.

There is enough for a party to grab onto if they look beyond personalities I suppose.

Me too, for obvious reasons, but I fear that if it does it will simply be another point of evidence for the globalist UN Agenda 31 5G tracking chip conspiracy designed to hold the bringers of truth in chains. As opposed to 'a bunch of sadly deluded conspiracy theorists who couldn't find their way out of a paper bag with a map, a torch and a bottle of water who did exactly what sadly deluded conspiracy theorists do and failed hard at reality'.

How is the "1% tax" thing they promote even meant to work? What I saw is her and her idiotic followers seem to think that a lot of big businesses don't pay any tax at all, and (somehow) that would make up for the loss of revenue from everyone else paying a normal level of tax...but I'm curious to know who these "big corporates" are who don't pay any tax whatsoever, yet have (somehow) managed to fly under IRD's radar all this time. Do they even exist?

I'd actually have some sympathy for them if they had huge support and genuinely somehow missed a deadline. Back in reality - they're asking the electoral commission to reprint a metric n ton of material to include 30 additional people for a party polling at circa 1%. I don't think that's going to happen.

Just finished early voting.

I dunno how the hell Gunn expects to get all her candidates "added" to the voting forms when early voting is already underway with all the candidates names on them.

Nothing says "we know how to run the country" better than missing the deadline to include all your candidates on the voting papers 🙄 (/sarcasm)

How is it that Winston keeps rising in the polls??? 😠

My thoughts are that Winston is seen as a "brake" on the what seems a likely National and Act victory in this election.

Parties do not get voted into power, but out of it and this seems to be what is happening. Neither National-Act (sorta tax cuts and no good policies) or Labour-Green-TPM (co-governance and lack of democracy) are seen as welcome options.

And given a reluctance to vote left or right as both possible options are seen as poor, some may want National-Act , but with a "spoiler" in the mix ?

When you look at it NZ first is well financed for its size, and can spend almost as much as Labour.
So they have donors to be serious.

National and ACT are in a different class to everyone else then you think of them combined.

Election 2023: National Party banks 7.5 times more in donations than Labour Party
Article from 23 Aug, 2023
https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/election-2023-national-party-banks-75-times-more-in-donations-than-labour-party/CAKRIIEYXBGMRGUNIVQ6J3NXVM/#:~:text=National%20has%20received%20%248.2%20million%20since%20the%20start,First%20has%20also%20reported%20receiving%20%241m%20in%20donations.
""
National has received $8.2 million since the start of 2021, followed by Act on $4.2m. This brings the total raised by the two parties during this period to more than $12m.

The Green Party has raised $1.4m, ahead of Labour (almost $1.1m).

NZ First has also reported receiving $1m in donations.

Yes, it's very clear who New Zealand's super-rich want in government.

SaltyNZ: As a delegate, I met her at the party list ranking conference and she came across to me as arrogant and combative. Not the kind of person I would want representing the movement. I recommended to my branch that she be low on the list.

Samant's comments were very likely made in the context of opposition to the Labour MP Radhakrishnan associating with people that Samant considers to be NZ based supporters of Hindutva extremists or members of extremist aligned organisations.

The “White people are stupid” and “can be fooled easily” is very likely to be a reference to the Labour Party who Samant may believe have been fooled into thinking extremist and fundamentalist aligned people are representative of wider Indian culture.

Samant and other Hindu people like her in New Zealand who speak against fundamentalist ideas have been subject to various levels of threat as a result. Even so, Samant's comments were made well before her Green Party candidacy. At 28th on the Green Party list there's no way Samant will be in parliament. All the same, Samant has made her opinion very clear, even if she has used somewhat offensive language in the past.

Things are looking much closer.

In the Herald’s Poll of Polls, there is currently a 60 per cent probability National and Act will have to come to an agreement with NZ First to get the 61 seats needed to govern.

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/election-2023-christopher-luxon-grilled-by-northland-residents-on-national-working-with-winston-peters/FQFK77KHPZH2RETYPH74YMJOYM/

It would be a bit embarrassing if National and Act couldn't govern after all those millions of campaign donations. (edited typos)
