LOL, No I am quite calm. I don't take offence because that is for snowflakes. But unlike MANY in this thread, many of whom have only been able to offer re-tweets and insults, I do try to understand why this madness is going on. Sometimes you need to put yourself in the other persons shoes. It's called empathy. That does not necessarily mean you support those views at all costs.

Many in this thread have proven quite categorically that they do not even consider another persons point of view, simply because it is different to their own and their mind is made up. I think that is a bit pompous. And I think that is where Trump has been very clever, dangerous and quite ingenious.

He has created a new market, a (Trump) brand continuation. His previous / anticipated media news worthiness is based on the American dream. The American dream continues to be based on the simple mantra - work hard, be successful and make lots of money. His news worthiness has been both positive and negative. Rags to riches Bull**** etc. Americans love a tryer!

He knows that through social media, he only needs to throw out one fishing line with enough bait to get the piranha biting in order to keep his popularity up there. Personally I think he will do more damage to America when his presidency ends, because that is when he will capitalize on all this. He is not stupid. I think he is very clever but devious.

And so many people in this thread continue to be the screaming bait that makes Trump the fisherman stronger and stronger.

100% agree

You do not change the world with an echo chamber if you want to change other people's mind empathy is so important. If you want to go up against someone like Trump you have to understand what drove people to vote for him in the first place and importantly learn from them what did the side you support do wrong?

I know this is somewhat derisive on geekzone but to me this is very important I am a member of the extreme right and left wing ideologies facebook (and political parties) groups attend their meetings and try to empathise with others and individuals by talking to them and listening to what they have to say.

From all my research into extremist groups like the KKK the most effective tool for change was someone empathising with someone from the group and moving them away from hate im not saying everyone will change but I feel that it's a worthwhile cause to try.

That is a very dangerous tack to take. Even when sincerely meant, it easily morphs into accepting and justifying evil. There are fundamental standards that should never be compromised. Some people are just nasty, some much worse, and their ugly ideas should never be explained away with the lame excuse that you are trying to empathise with them.

Easier said than done most times. Look through this thread as an example.

You are right some people are just nasty but that should not be an excuse for not trying. But you are correct in the fact that you have to be extremely strong on your convictions.

I worked in retail for many years and while many who work in retail complain about customers the reality is 99%+ of all people are understanding good people so long as you listen to what they are saying. People who are part of extremist groups like this are from my experience like this because its a product of their environment more than anything else. I know people who I would now call friends who were abused as children or who were never given hope who turned to extreme drugs like meth who most would just pass and scoff at but I tried my best to reach them even on some occasions when they would steal from me and I can show you their lives now most are in stable relationships have steady jobs and quit drugs years ago. One in particular stand out to me he took me aside and told me he would have killed himself if it was not for me after work going to see him every night when he was going through hard times. That to me is where i derive meaning but I can also understand those giving up on those type of people.

I'm not talking about those types of people. I'm talking about extremists who think they are entitled to burst into black churches firing semi-automatic weapons, or to lynch gays, or to bomb protest gatherings. Not everyone is a poor misguided soul who just needs a little love to see the error of his ways.

With all due respect, Trump could say the same as you! In fact he does. He is so strong on words like "Evil", "standards", "never compromise", "nasty", "ugly", "lame" .....etc etc.

It is people like you that repeat his words that gives Trump strength and trends within social media. He understands and feeds on that. People like you use the same pathetic language as does Trump. Invariably without justification. The fact is sadly, his social media reach far outweighs (your combined or otherwise) condemnation.

Sad but true.

I get that, honestly Im terrible at articulating myself in anything written and empathy is a much better tool in person (or even over video format like youtube) than over an internet forum. I would hazard a guess that those who type over the internet (like is so typical) would not be willing to express the same things in person against someone who vehemently disagrees with them simply because most people are so afraid of conflict.

Again I don't disagree but look at some of the stories of X KKK members not all are for use of a better term evil.

Most of these people want to feel part of something similar to religion.

Something fairly profound from reading and listening to phycologists on history "If where in Nazi Germany the statistical probability is that you would have been a perpetrator, you think you would have rescued Anne Frank. Think again, those people are very very very rare."

He is right insulting people changes nothing, the only thing it does it make the opposed more opposed to your point of view and gains you social credit amongst your peers who already agree with you.

I'm not convinced of that - sorry to say.

Trump(ism) facilitates / epitomises narcissistic greed, reels of abject hypocrisy, is based on lies, and is the antithesis of any humanist / theist ideology based on any concept of common good. That "good" people can be corrupted to embrace evil isn't anything new.

I think you're probably reading about events in all the wrong places.
