I think you're probably reading about events in all the wrong places.

We'll see. I have been surprised by a few awards in the past.

Apropos of nothing in particular:

I'm told that in Queensland more toads appear after heavy rain.

True story, during Gulf War I we were in Brisbane for a week or so on holiday. After watching camera-eye views of laser-guided bombs plinking tanks got boring, we went outside (which is a big mistake in Queensland in summer time) and found a cane toad in the yard of the motel we were staying at. Lacking anything better to assault it with, we found an old Barbie doll someone had left around and started beating the toad with it. It managed to flop into the swimming pool, but I think we injured one leg because it could only swim in a circle until it drowned.

We did not go swimming.

He is right insulting people changes nothing, the only thing it does it make the opposed more opposed to your point of view and gains you social credit amongst your peers who already agree with you.

Thanks Trump for getting American youth more politically involved.

"Teen Vogue" published this article.

https://www.teenvogue.com/story/chief-of-staff-john-kelly-president-trump-idiot-women-emotional

Chief of Staff John Kelly Reportedly Called President Trump an Idiot, Said Women Are More Emotional

Anonymous sources gave NBC News an inside look at the turmoil of the Trump White House.
By Caitlin Wolper

"Apparently, White House chief of staff John Kelly has called President Donald Trump an idiot multiple times, according to an NBC News report. While he’s hardly the first to have said as much, the story paints a picture of an administration in which Kelly sees himself as 'the lone bulwark against catastrophe,' or, more simply, the only person who keeps Trump in line.

'He doesn't even understand what DACA is. He's an idiot,' Kelly reportedly said in one meeting, according to two officials who were present and spoke with NBC News. 'We've got to save him from himself.'
...
According to White House spokespeople who spoke to NBC, Kelly takes care to '[step] in when aides use foul language to note ‘a lady is present’' and does not use expletives in front of women himself. White House spokespeople said they haven't seen Kelly have a negative effect on the morale of women staffers.

Infantilizing women is an issue that arisen in the administration before, from policies that jeopardize women's health care and beyond. Vice President Mike Pence will reportedly not eat dinner alone with any woman other than his wife, according to a 2017 Washington Post profile of Karen Pence.

None of these tactics are appropriate, as treating women as the 'fairer gender' is more condescending than it is considerate. The Atlantic has pointed out how Pence's attitude could keep women out of the halls of power..."

There's a serious logic flaw in that list - mistakes seen in hindsight vs very obvious foresight.

Trump's well and truly excluded himself.

Of course when he doesn't win, he'll say that he was offered the prize - but turned it down, and the loyal will believe.

Mueller may be getting close to hitting Trump with a subpoena. Couldn't happen to a more deserving president.

It’s hard to keep up with the Trumpet. Now it emerges that his candidate’s medical report was not written by his physician, but by the Narcissist in Chief himself. In retrospect that should have been obvious because it is filled with phrases about his health being ‘astonishingly excellent’ and himself being the ‘healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency’ (and don't forget his fantasticest blood pressure and stratospheristalist cardiovascular strength and the most amazing crowds and the hugest ever vote and the biggest hands and whatever…)

At least he's in great physical shape, according to his doctor's letter:

Mr Trump's physical strength and stamina, were described as "extraordinary".

His blood pressure and laboratory tests were described as "astonishingly excellent" and he was said to have lost 15 pounds (7kg) over the course of a year.

Oh but wait - now it seems that Trump's doctor has suffered a sudden truth attack:

Donald Trump wrote own health letter, says physician Harold Bornstein

"I just made it up as I went along," he said.

Edit - snap with post above.

Pays to remember that this disgusting POS president spent much of his presidential campaign claiming that Hillary was a weak frail elderly woman.

Now it appears that his personal lawyer Michael "Better Call" Cohen represented clients who faked car accident injuries in order to defraud insurance companies.

That's three disasters for Trump in 24 hours.

Well, I finished reading Comey's book last night. I still disagree with his stance on strong encryption but I can't fault the man's integrity or his core drive to protect the innocent and uphold the law. He also makes a very good case for why law enforcement (obviously, he's coming from an American position, but the basic point still stands) needs to crack down hard on people who lie to them, even if the original reason for interviewing those people was something minor. For example, Martha Stewart: she did a dumb thing, trading a small amount (in relative terms) of stock because one of her close friends did. There's a very good chance that had she been up-front about it, she would have gotten away scott free, or at worst with a modest fine.

Instead she decided to lie about it, and the FBI was able to prove it. His argument is that if you allow people to get away with lying to law enforcement it undercuts the very foundations of justice. If you let people get away with small lies, then people notice it and it becomes easier for them to believe they can get away with more important lies. So they had no choice really but to make an example of her.

All the background he writes about in the first and second acts, as it were, of the book come together at the end. He is sitting in a meeting with senior intelligence and law enforcement officials and team Trump just after the election, and it occurs to him that the way the Trumps are handling the issues of Russian interference are very much the same as the way the Mafia leaders did when he was prosecuting all of them back in the 80s. And of course, finally, we come to the one-on-ones with Trump, where that clinches it for Comey. Trump is not a man of integrity, he is, essentially, just another Mafia boss ... and he has become President.

We know how that turns out: Comey doesn't last long before Trump fires him, but in a way that makes things easier because it means Comey is no longer bound by the unwritten rules of political neutrality. He's free to say exactly what he thinks, and he has been.

The book is definitely worth a read. By now you'll have already read the juiciest bits on various sites, but the rest of it is fascinating too.

EDIT to add: also gives a bit of background on Mueller, too.
