Hipkins doesn't know where the current outbreak came from so his assertion is worthless. There are no credible experts that suggest that the current outbreak came.from anywhere but the border.

I would have to go back and check (can't do that right now) but I'm sure that is what he said. Of course the virus would ultimately have come over the border. He was just saying it didn't come through any of the gaps now being plugged. I think he is able to say this even without knowing where the outbreak started because of the genetic characteristics of the virus, but I don't know for certain.

He should prove that. Of course he can't because he doesn't know where it came from. It's not quite a lie but it's a worthless and farcical assertion.

If you're going to make that sort of assertion be fair about it. National is bought and paid for by business interests and the CCP. Labour is beholden to the unions. All political parties have to keep their stakeholders happy.

Get your facts straight about the SFO. The SFO are currently investigating Labour and prosecuting a former National MP for his behaviour when he was an MP. Most parties behaviour around electoral donations is pretty poor.

Conducting a coalition negotiation isn't underhanded. If you don't like the outcome vote for someone else.

I missed the Labour investigation. I'll still defer to Winston's comments about National being under SFO investigation, however. Merely being under investigation was enough for him to start throwing that around like it meant something, at least until NZ First was also under investigation.

I didn't claim conducting a coalition negotiation was underhanded - all parties do that. But do some parties do it to further the interest of their donors ahead of the interests of the country? I'd say that would be underhanded if someone were to have done that.

Are you saying anyone who find's Ardern not to be attractive is a misogynist?

I'm saying anyone who cares enough about this to mention it is.

So you assume that if I mention something I care about it?  I see.

I don't care if the PM is attractive.  I was simply surprised to see someone else think this PM is.

[Govt has no idea where this cluster came from.

Or they have a good idea where it is from but do not wish to say so until confirmation is established. This would be a sensible route to take.

In retrospect me saying they have no idea is bit of stretch.

They keep saying they don't know and I believe them as govts tend to like to portray that they know stuff and are in control. Hence use of the word likely, meaning: "we don't know but we're operating under some firm assumptions and want to look as though we know"

So you don't like Winston and just making assertions without evidence.

He sounded pretty definite. He didn't add any qualifiers at all.

If I see someone get off a plane dressed in a panama hat, board shorts and a tasteless Hawaiian shirt, I can't say for sure that they came from Panama or Hawaii, but I can form a pretty solid conclusion that they didn't come from Antarctica or Greenland! Establishing a negative without knowing the positive isn't all that hard.

The fact that you were surprised, and saw fit to mention it, makes you a misogynist. This line of thought would not even have occurred to someone who isn't.

Not name calling. Discussing the meaning of a word that arose from an inappropriate comment.

Then I would say that the definition has not been met  for the misogynist "a person who dislikes, despises, or is strongly prejudiced against women." The reference to the PMs looks was irrelevant but not misogynist

I'm using Winston's own yardstick for linking smoke and fire. Goose, gander and all.

I was inferring that from the comment.

You inferred wrong.  I was prodding.  Probably shouldn't have.

If the government said it was raining at the border I would check the windows. There's not much credibility there.

Edit: Truly appalling spelling.
