Right now the USA,Italy, France and Greece must be looking carefully at Australia's solution to illegal immigration. Whether the people are genuine refugees or are economic migrants is not a clear cut thing, but there is no denying that the number of boats coming to Australia has dropped to nearly zero.

Maybe there will be very lucrative deals done with Libya, Egypt, and Mexico to set up huge detention camps. Then use the navies of the EU countries to turn these boats around or deliver the people back to where they came from. With enough money thrown at the problem these camps could be made to be humane and reasonably comfortable. Money from the USA, and the wealthy Euro nations would solve this problem. Fixing what Trump calls the 'excrement' countries torn apart by gangs and civil wars may never happen.
