kingdragonfly: From 2014. Makes me wish I was on a rudderless ship
Finally, he has started telling the truth!
Edit scratch that, just saw it was 2014 he said that. Not a lot has changed....
CNN - Why the Trump Time magazine cover is so powerful
Ten days ago, at a press conference before leaving Singapore, President Donald Trump called on Time magazine reporter Brian Bennett.
"Am I on the cover again this week?" Trump asked rhetorically. "Boy, have I - so many covers."
Trump added another Time cover this week - although he's not likely to hang this one on the walls of any of his properties anytime soon.
If you haven't seen it, here it is:

While a risky strategy at best, I guess Melania wanted to give the middle finger to the media, and to have a whole lot of people talking about it.
I think it will be an absolute gift to the writers of the attack tv ads leading up to November. Probably just as self destructive as 'Deplorables.' was for Clinton.

I'm struggling to think of any rational reason why she'd do that - you could take your pick of an assortment of possible irrational reasons - and none of them reflect very well.
I'll have to visit 4Chan, watch Hannity, or visit Reddit's The_Donald forum to see how the rabid right interpret this as a carefully planned genius move - which I'm sure they'll be trying to do.
Perhaps she's simply lost her mind.

Nope - I have a strong gag reflex when I see Trumpist propaganda.
They are saying much as expected - but they don't see the irony that if Melania didn't care about "fake news", then screaming her head off for maximum attention to "leave her alone" wasn't going to work.
I think she's probably gone as bit nuts. Understandable.
On the subject of propaganda ...
We Reimagined Trump’s ‘Zero Tolerance’ as a 1940s Propaganda Film
A U.S. government film from 1943 justifying the detention of Japanese-Americans in internment camps has new relevance in light of the president’s immigration policies.
A 3-minute video - worth watching!

CNBC - Trump, again and again, describes a world detached from reality
On Twitter, at the White House, and on the campaign trail, Trump did more than get facts wrong.
Over and over, he painted fundamentally false portraits of people and events to flatter himself, discredit predecessors and rivals, and promote his political objectives.
Some highlights from Trump's week include inflating Germany's crime-rate and claiming Canadians smuggle shoes over the border to avoid tariffs.
The president's aides and critics have offered multiple explanations for his misstatements:
- He's new to politics, unconventional and sometimes ill-informed.
- He exaggerates for salesmanship and negotiation – as Trump himself has acknowledged.
- He is, as GOP Sen. Ted Cruz once charged, a "pathological liar."
- Tony Schwartz, who got to know Trump as co-author of their 1987 best-seller Art of the Deal, offers a different explanation.
He says narcissism warps Trump's perception of reality about himself and others."Every move he makes is a response to this distorted inner world he lives in," Schwartz told me. That condition, he warns, is "getting progressively worse."

gzt: European retaliatory taffifs on US$4b USA products went into effect today. Trump saying he will respond with adding 20% tax on cars from Europe. This started out with Trump's ideas about steel but really this could go anywhere from here.
American Companies are beginning to complain out loud now and the better columnists seem to be in agreement it is indeed the American Companies and consumers who will lose.
Just like his border policies Trump doesnt understand that actions have consequences.

Yep. US imports a great deal, those imports now increase in price due to US tariffs. US manufacturers now pay more as do US citizens. Did he implement his tax cuts? If so, they are now spent. Or he could go bigly on Buy American. Same problem, less tariffs but higher cost to produce American.
