Agree. Surely if you have a united world force, you don't have to arm everyone to the teeth. Aside from Middle East and terrorists, the only area of modern day war seems to be Russia vs EU?

Fred99:

He's demanding that NATO members increase military expenditure to 4% of GDP.

Quick number count on that is over $500 billion per year increase - and that would amount to an approximate 25% increase in overall global military expenditure.

Combined, NATO/US would be spending about 2/3 of global military expenditure.

That's a terrible idea.

For a bit of a chuckle they should say "Okay, we will put in an order for additional arms from ........China."

Regarding the "American Idiot" song, Trump balloon, NY Times, Washington Post, and every late night shows monologues, Trump must know he's disliked by a good portion of the population.

It's getting to the point of a handling a knife wielding maniac by screaming "you idiot" at him; I don't think it's effective.

The pressure really needs to be applied to those who can get rid of him, the legislators. If key Republican members of Congress were made the brunt of jokes, perhaps the world would be rid of Trump earlier.

I think the UK does have a "special relationship" with the US above anywhere else, and the UK and its citizens are thought of generally very fondly by the US people.

Trump's pre-empted the possibility that widespread protest will be visible (on US media) by repeatedly suggesting that the UK is in absolute chaos - which I expect will be reinforced by strong condemnation by the fake news machine of Fox News etc - of the unruly disrespectful rabble.  So yeah -  UK street protests will have zero impact on the "deplorables" and risk just making things worse.

OTOH, Trump is despised in the UK - and it doesn't seem to be divided along party lines, nor pro/against Brexit.  His approval rating is about 20%.  A loud-mouthed and boastful gold-plated vulgarian billionaire who's also a sexual predator, insults the PM, insults the entire nation...  There will be protests - it's inevitable.

Sure - there's risk that protests may backfire.

I expect that there will be violence - it's in the interest of the US and Russian agenda to make sure that it happens - and it's not as if both haven't pulled that trick out of the hat before - even using paid thugs.  And that's something that the media need to be very wary of - but I expect they'll jump on the created news anyway blowing it out of proportion, the headline matters even if the truth comes out later.

That's why I like the baby Trump balloon and "American Idiot for #1" campaigns - they can't be so easily hijacked and turned - just whined and bleated about - and whining and bleating isn't what "winners" should be seen to be doing.

The baby balloon leaves a lasting image that is hard to erase.

The Chinese don't want to upset the cry-baby:

Beijing has issued unusually strict rules limiting coverage of the trade war because of worries that unrestrained reporting could spark instability or roil its already jittery financial markets, according to sources within Chinese state media.

“When exposing and criticizing American words and actions, be careful not to link it to Trump and instead to aim it at the U.S. government,” said a memo based on a set of directives issued verbally by government officials that was circulated to reporters at a state-run news outlet and seen by Reuters.

It's probably a smart move - better to target the puppet masters - rather than taunt the unstable idiot.

The words from Pete Seegers song seem scarily appropriate these days.

Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing?
Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago?
Where have all the flowers gone?
Gone to young girls, every one!
When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone, long time passing?
Where have all the young girls gone, long time ago?
Where have all the young girls gone?
Gone to young men, every one!
When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the young men gone, long time passing?
Where have all the young men gone, long time ago?
Where have all the young men gone?
Gone to soldiers, every one!
When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?

And where have all the soldiers gone, long time passing?
Where have all the soldiers gone, a long time ago?
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Gone to graveyards, every one!
When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?

And where have all the graveyards gone, long time passing?
Where have all the graveyards gone, long time ago?
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Gone to flowers, every one!
When will they ever learn, oh when will they ever learn?

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

FTFY.  The original was clearly a reversed fake from Fox news - NATO was spelled backwards

English: North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO

French: Organisation du Traité de l'Atlantique Nord, OTAN

Notice the "A" is subtely stroked correctly for "OTAN", not "NATO"

You needed to move Trump's lapel pin as well.
