Oh no, Reality Check Media is offline and needs money to continue spreading this kind of fear-based content:
Let's call them by their real name "Reality Cheque"....they are just a bunch of conspiracy nut jobs who hope to con money from the gullible
This bit from the article caught my eye:
While RCR has a vocal support base, it seems the station needs more of them to stump up funding. [Rodney] Hide reveals in the video that about 4500 people have donated to RCR. “But you might be surprised to learn that’s only about 1 per cent of RCR’s fan base who’ve financially supported the station they love. That’s 1 per cent carrying the load for everyone else.”
1% of their base is 4,500 people? So - if my maths is correct - they have 450,000 listeners? I highly doubt that (yet another lie). Anyway, if they have so many vocal fans they should be falling over themselves to make a donation as soon as possible, right? Or maybe they just don't want to pay for this crap.
Of course, they could also cut back on all the bus/billboard/Google advertising and expensive promotional videos, too instead of endlessly grifting 🙄
Most of the comments I've seen seem quite happy it's disappeared, not a lot sad/saying they miss it, etc.

In the meantime, can we get the Charities Commission to revoke the tax exempt status of their stablemates in the Wright Family Foundation and Destiny Church?

Bomber did a piece on them shutting down the other day, asking if they're "not woke" why did they close down then? https://thedailyblog.co.nz/2024/04/10/mediawatch-fringe-reality-check-radio-go-bloke-go-broke/
As of this morning, they're still down. Must not have had too many million-dollar-donations yet 😀
https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2024/04/brian-tamaki-fires-up-after-christopher-luxon-eyes-tax-reform-for-churches.html >> LOL, good luck with that, Briiiiiiiiiiiiiiian 🙄
But those comments today drew the ire of church leaders, including Destiny's Brian Tamaki, who say the current settings reflect the good they do in the community.
Like what? Painting over rainbow crossings? Shutting down drag queens reading in libraries? Basically telling the LGBTQ community they're a waste of space? Ridiculous - that's not "doing good in the community", IMO.
Tax the living daylights out of him, it's long, long overdue. Maybe he could stop grifting so much then and cut back on his lavish lifestyle (I know, unlikely).

You would think that the churches would be OK with paying tax, since they would still be able to deduct charitable activities and community work just like every other business. For a church that actually does practice what it (literally) preaches, and helps the disadvantaged, there wouldn't be much effect from a change to bring them into the tax regime. Destiny Church though... I'm curious what these "social programmes" are that Destiny Church runs without government help that have a positive impact.
It's notable that the chair of the InterChurch Bureau doesn't fire up screaming that this shall not stand, but instead says that it will be good to have the conversation since many people may not know what the churches actually do apart from dodge accountability for historic sexual assaults (assuming the Catholic Church is a member?)

They should also make Tithing illegal. Tithing is NOT a donation.
Make donations anonymous so that people who do not "donate" 10% of their income do not get singled out....or if they object, make "donations" GST applicable on the basis they are buying a service (pun intended).

Oh, I beg to differ - I think their fundraising drive is fully a stunt. Anyway, why don't Voices for Freedom just cut them a cheque? Or have they run out of money too? (lol)

EXCEPT some churches ARE businesses , ie Sanitarium (7th Day Adventists), and that business pays zero tax.

Common misconception. Sanitarium is not a church, and the reason it pays no company income tax is that it makes no profit - as a result of donating the entirety of its earnings after expenses to the Seventh Day Adventist Church. It still pays other taxes and levies such as FBT, GST (where applicable), ACC. You could do that too if you owned a business (I'm not sure if you could do that with a property investment though - I refer to limited liability companies in this context), it's just that you probably have no reason to want to do so.
This is why I personally advocate that furtherance of religion be removed as a charitable activity. It means churches, and entities like Sanitarium, could still deduct donations made for the purpose of real charity, such as free lunches for disadvantaged kids, school sports days, feeding and housing the homeless, disaster relief - I doubt many people would take umbrage at those sorts of things being valid charitable tax deductions. To their credit, the Seventh Day Adventists via the Adventist Development Relief Agency actually do a lot of good work, without mixing religion into it.
Now that the Bondi Junction stabber has been identified, we're still waiting for those who thought out loud that he was Muslim or Jewish to eat their words.

Why does the fact that the Rainbow crossing Vandal in Auckland is married to Brian Tamaki's granddaughter not surprise me...
