CNN Politics - Donald Trump is losing Cabinet officials at a record rate

extracts

(CNN) The word out of the White House is that anyone not directly related to Donald Trump could be on the chopping block as this most mercurial of presidents seethes and stews over the midterm setback for his party last week and his broader grievances that he is not being well-served by his staff.

The latest: Trump has decided he wants Kirstjen Nielsen, the head of the Department of Homeland Security, gone - although it's unclear when she will go.

Thrown into that mix is the fact that White House chief of staff John Kelly is very close to Nielsen

Consider this: nine (!) Cabinet official have already left the Trump administration less than two years into his presidency.

That equals the number of Cabinet officials who left in then-President Barack Obama's entire first four years in office.

In George W. Bush's first term in office, only four Cabinet members left.

The only recent president who saw more Cabinet departures in his first four years in office than Trump has overseen in his first less-than-two is Bill Clinton, who lost 12 Cabinet officials in his first term.

Trump views everyone outside of his immediate family as expendable.

For a President who values making history and always having (or saying he has) the biggest and the best, Trump can take comfort in this fact: When it comes to people leaving his administration, he's at the top of the heap.

Since when did unelected family members have the power to fire senior officials?

I think CNN got that banner wrong.

Looking at wording of the Eastwing Spokeswoman's statement, I reckon they're gonna dump Melania wink

CNN currently reporting arrest of Avenatti on domestic violence charge. He strenuously denies it and his estranged wife supports him. Possibly this could be some kind of set up attempt but too soon to know. Developing story. No doubt Trump will jump on it with both boots on.

LA Times article (local to Avenatti), with live updates.

Even though Avenatti has been tormenting Trump, I think Trump will have no shortage of "fish to fry", with the Dems now running the House of Representatives.

The Guardian - Trump claims people wear disguises to vote illegally in Florida

Donald's vivid imagination is (again) running wild ...

Donald Trump has claimed without evidence that people wear disguises to vote illegally in Florida as the state hurtles towards a Thursday deadline for completing vital election recounts.

“The Republicans don’t win and that’s because of potentially illegal votes,” Trump told the conservative Daily Caller website.

“When people get in line that have absolutely no right to vote and they go around in circles.

Sometimes they go to their car, put on a different hat, put on a different shirt, come in and vote again.

It’s really a disgrace what’s going on.”

He also called for new national ID laws with a bizarre assertion: “If you buy a box of cereal – you have a voter ID.”

Going by CNN he is angry, bigly angry I suspect. I never ever bought into the senile argument here, but he will blow it. Maybe soon he will handle a negative vibe as a narcissist would, badly. Nationwide TV, Eff this, Eff that. Then the many GOP will nab that. He will be sent to the CGA, not fit for purpose. If it heads that way, liquidate everything and buy shares, you can sell them back in a month.

He still has fangs, albeit the removable variety. Look at what happened to Clinton. And more recently, Michael Avenatti.

I suspect that Trumpkinhead has a whole black-ops department stashed away in the bowels of the Whitest House.

Unemployed parking attendants, defrocked librarians and descendants of J.Edgar Hoover, chained to pillars like WWII snipers and only fed when they dig dirt.

They really have it in for Avenatti.

Problem is with the massive partisan divide, there'll be officials who'll go along with what they know is a conspiracy, out of a misguided sense of patriotism.

They're intent on sabotaging Avenatti's credibility.  He's a good target, as he's unlikely to get support from the Democrat establishment, as they don't want him to have any chance of being a threat to 2020 presidential candidates they want.

Jacob Wohl's involvement is bizarre.  He's a con-artist barely out of high school, given a platform because the idiot president retweeted his gushing praise.  His sales technique is to hire attractive young models at promotional events to sweet-talk silly middle-aged male wealthy marks, then given the nod by the model, he sidles over to scam them.

Jacob Wohl was also involved in the attempt to smear Mueller, I would have thought the fallout from that would have kept him out of anything else. Simply because attaching his name to anything makes it lose credibility. Kind of like James O'Keefe and Project Veritas.

The New York Times - Recount Ordered in Florida Senate Race as Governor’s Contest Nears End

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - Florida concluded the first phase of a tumultuous recount of its midterm election on Thursday, with state officials ordering a manual recount in the hotly contested Senate race between Rick Scott, the Republican governor, and the Democratic incumbent, Bill Nelson. ...

From the early morning hours through mid-afternoon, when the results of the state’s machine recount were posted, lawyers for both parties filed new lawsuits, rushed to court hearings and issued statements challenging the conduct of the vote - crucial arguments on voter suppression and ballot recognition that will help lay the legal groundwork for the 2020 election.

"Only in Florida"

Not related, but some might find amusing: dumb laws in Florida from a local lawyer

https://www.robertmalovelaw.com/50-weird-florida-laws-according-to-a-lawyer/

"Remember that time when…

Florida essentially banned all computers and mobile phones back in 2013?

Or even just recently how it has now become possible for any parents to file a complaint if they disagree with scientific theories taught in public schools?"
