President Trump has repeatedly derided prosecutors investigating potential coordination between his presidential campaign and Russia as “angry Democrats,” pointing to their past political donations as proof of bias.

But William P. Barr, Trump’s nominee to lead the Justice Department and oversee the Russia investigation, would be by far the most prolific political donor to step into the country’s top law enforcement post in at least a quarter-century, according to a Washington Post analysis.

Barr has donated more than $567,000 in the past two decades, nearly all to GOP candidates and groups, federal records show.

His wife, Christine Barr, gave more than $220,000 over that time ...

Well he gave a Presidential Medal of Freedom to someone who had donated over $100m to the GOP so he has form.

But this guy has already served as Attorney General so I don't really see it as an issue.

As for the issue of wall funding, the Democratic leader was even more cutting:

“It’s like a manhood thing with him - as if manhood can be associated with him,” she said. “This wall thing.”

With good behavior and other factors, Cohen will not have to do the whole 36 months

He won’t be reporting to jail until March

He could go back and volunteer more to try to cut down his sentence….

The hush-money case could prove even more significant than aspects of the Russia probe.

Prosecutors said Trump directed Cohen to arrange $280,000 in payments to Stormy Daniels, a porn actress, and Karen McDougal, a former Playboy playmate, shortly before the election to buy their silence about alleged sexual affairs with Trump.

Cohen admitted the hush-money payments were intended to influence the election, and prosecutors say they can prove the president’s involvement.

Trump initially denied knowing anything about paying them to keep quiet. That claim crumbled as more evidence emerged, and he remains in potential legal jeopardy. One potential out for him, however, is that to prove a criminal violation of campaign finance laws, prosecutors would have to show that Trump knew what the law required: in campaign finance, ignorance of the law is a defense.

Trump's days are numbered. Immediately after Cohen was sentenced, the New York prosecutors issued a press release indicating that they have had a cooperation agreement since September with the company that owns the National Enquirer, which is the tabloid rag that was used to funnel payments to silence Trump's sex partners. Attorneys everywhere, with the possible exception of Giuliani, loudly agree that the payments constitute an attempt (successful, as it happens) to undermine the election process. This is a very serious felony and the Enquirer ties it directly to Trump. There are also hints of proof of substantial other misdeeds that have not yet been made public. At the same time, the incoming Democratic New York Attorney General is promising to thoroughly investigate every aspect of Trump's business in New York, including his family members, who are all responsible officers of his corporation. That Time cover may actually come true. Also, a dozen or so Republican senators broke ranks to vote for a bill to end American support for the war in Yemen. There is also talk about clarifying the convention that sitting presidents cannot be indicted, which is a tradition but is not actually enshrined in law. Numerous other rumblings have also been occurring today. I have been getting most of my information from watching CNN and MSNBC. Impeachment is becoming a real possibility, as well as prosecution for a number of crimes. It is now accepted that Trump actively broke several laws and may well be indicted even before his term of office ends. Things are moving fast. I think a lot may emerge in the coming week.
