I will be pleased when the soap opera is over and the press has a new toy to play with.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

So if Trump goes down that track, no problem, he has every right, and if that serves his country better, then no problem

Yup.  It'll be great for middle/working class citizens to have the price hiked for basically everything they buy because of Trump's punitive tariffs, then lose their jobs because the rest of the world either applied punitive tariffs in retaliation, or just couldn't afford to buy made in USA products any more.

I have no issue with trade wars, although that term is a bit over the top IMO. However, if he intends to break existing agreements, thats not on.

Should he be over exuberant with tariffs, then yes, the World at large will break agreements and increase tariffs to the US, thus they would need to make more and more goods to avoid that, but that will still cost them more as they cant match other countries lower costs.

I do have an issue with trade wars - if history is a lesson then they cause or exacerbate economic depression killing millions and can start real wars killing even more millions.

US has used economic sanctions against its enemies - Trump threatening to use them against nations like China - where relations can be a little strained anyway, or Mexico - where the US has done pretty well from exploiting a source of cheap labour and "tame" politics doesn't bode well IMO.

I'm no great fan of US foreign policy as it's been, but Trump working hard to make things much worse is a very very bad idea for the entire world.

Charles Krauthammer rated the debate as just about a draw.     Trump has been prepping but not with practice debates.     He didn't do brilliantly but he had an answer for everything Hillary Clinton threw at him.

I don't get this. How can you say he had answers to Clinton's accusations? Most of what he did was just obfuscation. He would either make an outrageous or nonsensical claim, go off on a tangent, or talk in circles by saying something that had nothing to do with the subject at hand and then repeatedly answering himself. Only a few times did he actually address the issue under discussion. Two or three times he made a valid point but most of the time he just rambled in his usual fashion. When asked a direct question, his usual technique is to start babbling about something entirely different. He avoids uncomfortable subjects by simple talking about something else and bulldozing anyone who tries to bring him back on point. His fans may think this is somehow clever but all I see is a blowhard blowing smoke.

It just balances the lunatic left-wing media for which there is probably a ratio of 10:1.

No it doesn't provide "balance" at all.

"Balance" is not achieved by endorsing a platform for to lunatic-fringe conspiracy-theories and answering them.

Unfortunately, these days there's often an informal "meta-analysis by public opinion", where one may conclude based on reading fervent argument and counter-argument about whether the moon-landings were faked, that there's "a 40% probability that the moon landings were faked".

How many Trump vs Clinton supporters think the moon landings were faked will show you what's going on here.

Quite an interesting article here, from The Charlotte Observer. Interesting in the fact that North Carolina is one of the swing states and currently dealing with their own police shooting problem. NC could well be the pivot which everyone looks to in deciding which way to vote if not already decided.

If "left-wing" media outnumbers "right wing" media by 10 to 1, then your definition of "left wing" is wrong.  undecided

What people need to realise about this campaign is that neither candidate will win. Rather, one will lose.
