sen8or:
They really are trying to do everything in the early part of their term, probably on the hopes that in 18 - 24 months, when its time to start campaigning again, the public would have forgotten all the crap thats gone on at the start.
I remember car regos going down significantly not that many years ago, no issue with them going back up. In terms of car ownership, its a minor cost.
I don't have an issue with the increase in fines either, its one tax that its legal to avoid/evade.
Money for roads, right out of the national playbook, but in a country like ours with population spread etc, roads are what we have so if we can make them better / safer, its not a terrible thing.
I don't think Luxon will last the term, not sure who'll take over, but he is stumbling from one gaffe to another. It won't be long before the National board will want to step in and try for someone less tarnished.
It should be money for rail.
Reality is, big trucks for transporting goods is on a death watch. As fossil fuesl decline in usage , the price will go up.
Telsas electric trucks are a joke, the power to weight ratio as well as load capacity is poor, the time to charge one is high, and the battery life (and cost to replace is financially garbage)
We need to be pouring money into rail, electric rail, electrify the whole thing.
