(vis-a-vis Trump's rejection of transgender people in the military)

PROMINENT COWARD BANS COURAGEOUS PEOPLE FROM MILITARY

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—One of the nation’s greatest cowards achieved his long-standing goal of banning courageous people from serving in the military, the coward confirmed on Tuesday.

The coward, who avoided serving in the military no fewer than five times, told reporters that he had specifically targeted courageous people “because they make people like me look bad.”

“I know what they’re up to—enlisting in the military so that people like me look like spineless losers,” the coward said. “Well, if they think they’re going to get away with bravely serving their country, they better think again.”

The coward said that he was “surprised, frankly” at the howls of outrage his banning of valiant people from the military had sparked.

“If someone had banned me from the military back in the sixties, I wouldn’t have had to get a phony note from a podiatrist,” he said.

Trump has watched too many B&W movies, about small town grocers.

"Golly Gee Wilikers, Grandma contracted lycanthropy, and maw and paw died from polio. Could you put this week's $1.50 groceries on the tab?"

7-30am NZ time Trump is making an announcement re the shutdown, CNN infers a deal, and other articles of caving in re flights etc.

My guess is open the Govt, no wall money, negotiations start tomorrow on the wall. And he will say he has won, as he has formulated a deal to open the Govt that the Democrats held to ransom. He needs to say that re his narcissistic needs, but if he wants some form of wall money, he needs to be a good boy. Given that nothing has been done on wall design, you would think actual work would be a long while away?

Its past 7-30am, its 2-05pm in DC, the announcement due at 1-30pm

Edit, fixed the time

He announced the end of the shutdown. FA applause. Open for 3 weeks, people get backpay, then he went into the DEMs seeing the light, as DEMs now see the wall is needed. What a jerk.

Yep a jerk.

But he cut the deal that’s great. It was Pelosi’s deal lol

I like it when he said the Democrats will work with us “maybe”

My impressions:

Trump was more lucid than usual.

My favorite pieces of Trump hyperbole: "worst trafficking in the history of the world" and stats "that nobody would believe".

90% of what he said was repetition of earlier speeches.

There was NO applause at the end of his speech.   undecided
