https://newsroom.co.nz/2024/03/05/luxons-failure-to-launch/ >> failure to launch, indeed.

Sell them, whats the cost of a Business Class ticket vs supporting ageing 757's? Now that would be smart and economic, more for tax cut shortfalls.

Above all, its sensible.

The ferries have a similar issue, but they are sunk, even though its an economy issue than a PM travel issue

Work with these kids for 10+ years, so they have a chance of a job, a life, of being able to earn money and respect from their community, not a gang.

It woild probably be costly on a spreadsheet. But that SS is today, what about future benefits? Sadly, Govts key issue is 3 years, or 6 years votes. So whether we like it or not, its all about short term issues and gains (vote gains) While it would not obviously happen, if there was a 10 year term, any Govt could work towards plans as they have time to make them happen. Now, no time. 2 years in its not about NZ its about the election in 12 months time. Keep voters happy, not keep NZ happy

Every Govt is apparently a bad govt. Perhaps if a Govt had time to put plans in place that won't be removed next cycle, some things may actually get done. Instead of voter cherries dominating the 3 year cycle

This is the weakness of all so called democracies.
Remember the J.F Kennedy quote.
'Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.'
He knew what people are like.
Voters wordwide are mainly single issue voters, and vote for what they can get, not what their fellow citizens need.

That is also true, but it did not answer the question. Would you really want a NZ style "MAGA" running NZ for 10 years ?

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

No. But if the voters voted a Govt in, then that should apply

A shortish parliamentary term wouldn't be an issue if we weren't in the age of partisan politics.

I suspect that if there were any labour voters whom strategically voted NZF, in an effort to put the cat among the pigeons, they'll be chuckling away right about now......

I voted for Labour, and I then voted for National. I have voted NZ first, Social Credit, Greens,  over my voting life.

Since MMP I have always slip my vote.

I belong to no party, never will. These people are elected civil servants, nothing more.

Yeah I voted Liberal before I moved here, and I once voted ACT for the Auckland Supercity. In my defense Rodney Hide hadn't yet manifested the brain worms nor had whatshisname gotten caught using a dead baby's details to get a fake ID.

These comments are my own and do not represent the opinions of 2degrees.
