Do we need another thread? I feel this one is getting a bit side-tracked on issues of Australian residency/citizenship.

It's something to argue about during the media blackout.

Fair point.
OK, I predict Winston will play hard ball and make a public statement that the offer on the table is unacceptable to NZF and that they will sit on the cross benches in order to hold this government to account.
In response Luxon will issue a press release repeating that he did not want to negotiate in public and was disappointed by Winston's statement. He will privately come back with a much better offer (i.e. everything he wants) which Winston will reluctantly accept 2-3 days later after lengthy soul-searching. David Seymour will be privately livid but will go back in his box because he will be promised a referendum. The referendum will never occur.

I can't see Winston being happy with anything less than a fairly lofty ministerial post, not sure on deputy PM, but certainly foreign affairs.
Winston will want to control the narrative, regardless of the outcome, it will be him that made the Govt possible, he worked hard with all the parties to reach an agreement.
NZF has seen what 'not' being able to strongly point to 'policy victories' can do for a minor party.
A job with a high profile that keeps you out of the way may have nice perks but...
It was once said that giving Dunne a finance position was to keep him busy and away from interfering on policy.
Foreign minister is kind of its own silo, there is always another international visitor, meeting, policy, global emergency etc.
All time and attention that is not pushing forward your 'domestic' agenda for next election.
NZF more than ever will be thinking about its future and every one of their MPs especially who want a base for post Winston.
I expect there is a chance for a lot more friction on hard policy this time around.
ACT too has been making some strong statements on its 'out there' referendum.
National nightmare would be NZF and ACT ganging up on National for a highly divisive referendum.
Referenda have their place, but one has to think why Swiss referenda failed to give votes to women till 1971 !!!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women%27s_suffrage_in_Switzerland
But NO! not even then! Final canton was not bought into line by their supreme court, till 1990 !
Sometimes too many exclamation marks is not enough :-)

While we're speaking of Winston...
^ if this happens it means another election, right?

Not necessarily; if Luxon can convince the GG that he can command a confidence majority in parliament even with NZF sitting out then he might still get a crack at it. But it would mean he would need to be extra careful to do what NZF want or they could bring him down at any time - which of course would be entirely the point of NZF sitting out.

So ACT and NZF have had a meeting. 15 minutes
"we got a lot of useful things done". In 15 minutes? A typical morning break is 15 minutes. Same amount of time to get lots of useful things done? Seems a bit bizarre.

See what you can get done in only 15 minutes?
*Of course they never use that word, because it's New Zealand thankyouverymuch.

IMO there are 2 alpha males of the 3 of them. DS and WP) But they probably all agreed to keep it private as if hissy fits became news, its a mess, so lets keep a private mess instead. Should have said we had a 15 minute catchup meeting as a prelude to ongoing discussions, that would have made sense. To say we got a lot of useful things done, is a silly statement.
It could very well have been along the lines -
DS lays out his list of what he wants done to form a Govt.
WP lays out his list of what he wants done to form a Gov.
Both decide that they will see how far CL will bend to meet both of their "bottom lines" as a combined force....
About as likely as a unionist saying, "no, we don't need any more pay rises for our members this year".......
