Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling quietly deletes dozens of tweets after being named in Olympic woman boxer Imane Khelif’s lawsuit

The Humanist Report

Where in the world is Rowling? It's what Twitter users are asking after she's been conspicuously silent for two weeks following news that she was named in Imane Khelief's lawsuit for cyberbullying. Rowling has also been deleting tweets as well.

To be fair.
People are getting off Twitter for their own sanity.
So maybe she realized that X was just a cesspit that just draws you into drama and argument your life is better without 4Chan for beginners.

If she can move on smell the roses and touch some grass, and she can afford really nice grass.
Its probably a good thing.

Unrelated to below, Rudy Giuliani was a no-show at a New York civil case brought by six policemen injured during the January 6th insurrection.

It's unclear if his presence was required, but it's not a good start for him. It's not the first time he's been no-show at court cases. Previously his no-shows caused a judge

Dominion Voting Systems Lawsuit: His repeated no-shows and delays in responding to court orders have led to various consequences, including financial penalties and potentially adverse judgments (court assumes all evidence showing him guilty is valid). Dominion is asking for $1.3 billion.

Smartmatic Lawsuit: Rudy also having no-shows here, and that judge looks to be following same adverse judgement against Rudy. Unless there's a miracle, they are likely to get 2.7 billion.

The Daily Beast: Rudy Giuliani: Steve Bannon Is Being ‘Tortured’ in Prison

Rudy Giuliani says that Steve Bannon is being denied access to TV in prison and essentially “tortured.”

In a conversation with MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, Giuliani claimed that Bannon is being unfairly treated while he serves his four-month sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut for defying a congressional subpoena.

“(Bannon) unfortunately can’t hear this broadcast, which is an outrage,” ... "I do not remember prisoners of his category not having access to television for occasional shows, special shows.”

“Steve Bannon is not being treated the way other prisoners are being treated. His case has been moved from the Bureau of Prisons to Crooked Attorney General Garland’s office, and they’re calling the shots because contacts that I have in the Bureau of Prisons have told me they’ve been taken outta the case,” Giuliani continued. “He’s being, let’s say, tortured.. this election is about a fascist regime and Steve Bannon is prime number one victim.”

It's been a big day for Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Feds charge two foreign men for swatting Marjorie Taylor Greene, scores of other officials. (hoax bomb scare and similar) Note they're not American democrats; one from Serbia, one from Romania.

She plans another rifle giveaway to protest a does-not-exist Harris gun ban.

She bought a lot of stocks for pipeline operator Kinder Morgan (NYSE: KMI). She obviously cares more about money than the environment.

She posted a new video shooting a vehicle with “socialism” on it until it blow ups, shown below

Aw, poor Rudy. Maybe he's (finally) learning that telling lies about other people doesn't always bring fame and fortune, moreso when you try to dodge accountability for doing so.

Never mind, maybe his BFF the orange buffoon will step in to help him out, right? Right?

Conservative wants to bring people together, by making a divisive product. The "As seen in" is a laundry list of the worst of the worst far right orgs.

Wine Industry Advisor: Wine Brands Find Traction with Consumers When They Take a Stand
...
The founder California’s Republican Red. “I had the idea of launching Republican Red during the 2016 election cycle, but the timing didn’t feel right. I ended up launching it in 2020, and it immediately got a reaction — especially on social media and in California, where conservative people felt like there wasn’t necessarily a [welcoming] place for them in the wine culture.”

Johnson says he intended to launch the brand as a way to show pride for conservative values, and to “bring people together.” While he admits that plopping a bottle with a label that says “Republican Red” on the table is a “conversation starter,” he did not anticipate the levels of delight and vitriol it engendered.

“I was surprised by how nasty and personal some of the critiques were,” Johnson admits. “My goal was very different. I wanted it to be a cordial conversation starter, but it seemed to feed into the polarization I was trying to combat.”

He’s currently working on how to make subtle adjustments so that Republican Red simultaneously honors conservative values while also opening a dialog with people who may not necessarily define themselves as conservative.

“We need to put the bullshit aside and have a real conversation,” Johnson says.

Because disgraced New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been uncooperative in the extreme, it looks like days away from Rudy Giuliani losing some of his most prized possessions, with it likely who'll lose most of his personal property sooner rather then later.

NBC News: Defamed election workers seeking Rudy Giuliani's homes and World Series rings

The two Georgia election workers defamed by Rudy Giuliani are seeking to take possession of his multimillion-dollar homes in New York and Florida and some of his valuable personal property, including three Yankees World Series rings.

Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea "Shaye" Moss, were awarded $146 million in damages last year after a judge found Giuliani liable for repeatedly defaming them by falsely accusing them of election fraud during the 2020 presidential election. They filed the action seeking to get ahold of his properties in federal court in New York on Friday.

They argue the move is necessary because, "Mr. Giuliani has proven time and again that he will never voluntarily comply with court orders, much less voluntarily satisfy Plaintiffs’ judgment."

The Washington Post - Opinion - One urgent reason the justices need a credible ethics code? Ginni Thomas.

04 Sep 2024

Just when you think Virginia “Ginni” Thomas can’t do any more to cast disrepute on the institution where her husband has served as a justice for more than three decades, just when you think that perhaps, just perhaps, the justices and their spouses have been chastened by the torrent of bad publicity - there she goes again.

The latest bombshell, from ProPublica and Documented, involves Thomas’s gushing, all-caps thank-you email to the conservative First Liberty Institute. *

This is not just any conservative organization - it’s one that litigates extensively before the Supreme Court, on some of its most contested cases involving religious liberty and LGBTQ+ rights. ...

The impropriety here is multilayered  and staggering.

*  Ginni Thomas wrote: “YOU GUYS HAVE FILLED THE SAILS OF MANY JUDGES. CAN I JUST TELL YOU, THANK YOU SO, SO, SO MUCH.”

Not widely covered outside of US Christian based media outlets, a suit has been brought in Texas to allow religious organizations to endorse political candidates and bills, and still keep their tax-free status.

Obviously if you're an organization not paying taxes, you want to "have your cake and eat it too", so it's been a news story flying under the radar.

Some background. In the US, if you're a business, right-wing religious or conservative group suing someone, likely you're doing it in Texas.

It's "forum shopping", the practice of choosing the court or jurisdiction that has the most favorable rules or laws for the position being advocated. Again Texas.

Also in the US, the words "separation of church and state" do not appear in the U.S. Constitution, but the concept is enshrined in the very first freedom guaranteed by the First Amendment:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion."

It's also known as the establishment clause, the opening lines of the First Amendment prohibit the government from creating an official religion or favoring one religion (or nonreligion) over another.

The con artists, sorry I meant, "Evangelical Broadcasters", specifically mentions the Philadelphia Inquirer. The difference is Philadelphia Inquirer is a daily newspaper based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1829, making it one of the oldest continuously operating daily newspapers in the United States. Not a church, and not religious.

Christianity Today: Evangelical Broadcasters Sue Over IRS Ban on Political Endorsements

A group of evangelical broadcasters who hosted Donald Trump at their national conference earlier this year are suing the Internal Revenue Service over the so-called Johnson Amendment, a tax law that bars nonprofits from supporting political candidates.

Lawyers for the National Religious Broadcasters, along with two Baptist churches and a conservative group called Intercessors for America, argue in their suit that the ban on engaging in politics restricts their freedom of speech and freedom of religion. They further argue that the IRS ignores the politicking of some charities, while threatening to punish others.

In particular, lawyers for the groups claim that newspapers and other news outlets that have become nonprofits in recent years, such as the Philadelphia Inquirer, endorse candidates. Why can’t churches or other Christian groups, they want to know, do the same?

https://www.thebulwark.com/p/how-right-wingers-manufacture-scandal

This sounds just like something a deplorable would do - take some fact about the other side, no matter how tiny, and blow it up into something ridiculous that gets picked up by the right-wing media's news streams. Amplify it and while it's being debunked...come up with another one. And on and on it goes 🙄

Yes, like the "Obama is wearing a tan suit!" fake shock.

Never mind that other Presidents, including Reagan and Clinton, wore tan suits. Obama doing it is "shocking!"

It seems conservatives have a knack for being stupid and using stupid arguments.
