Turkey launches airstrikes on Syria after Trump pulls back U.S. troops

CBS Evening News

Turkish forces are bombarding territory held by America's Kurdish allies in Northern Syria. On Wednesday President Trump called the Turkish offensive "a bad idea," but it comes just days after his administration pulled back U.S. troops from the border, exposing the Kurds, who have led the fight against ISIS. Charlie D'Agata reports.

'Sir' is the one word that Trump seems to repeat when he’s telling a fake or inaccurate story.

A simplified version is: if Trumpy's speaking, he's lying.

The Washington Post - Two business associates of Trump’s personal attorney Giuliani have been arrested on campaign finance charges

Oct. 11, 2019 at 8:17 a.m.

Two associates of President Trump’s personal attorney Rudolph W. Giuliani have been arrested on charges they schemed to funnel foreign money to U.S. politicians while trying to affect U.S.-Ukraine relations, according to a newly unsealed indictment.

The two men, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, who had been helping Giuliani investigate Democratic presidential candidate and former vice president Joe Biden, were arrested Wednesday evening at Dulles International Airport outside of Washington, D.C., where they had one-way tickets on a flight out of the country.

The pair have been under investigation by the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan. ...

EDIT   Both men are important witnesses in the House’s impeachment inquiry.

I have a very bad feeling about Trump's rally in Minneapolis.

He only won 16% of the vote there in 2016 Ilhan Omar won 78% of the vote in 2018.

There's no point holding a rally there to gain marginal votes.

Trump's put it on the front page by refusing to pay a deposit for the venue security. Trump hasn't paid 10 cities the fees for use of venues for his rallies, and owes Washington DC $12 million.

Off duty police aren't allowed to attend the rally in uniform. Some police are not happy with the mayor who has toughened up on penalties for cops who "forget" to turn on their chest cams. So they've printed "Cops for Trump" tee-shirts. I assume that a self selected gang of politicised police where there's an undertone of tension aren't there to help people cross the road.

A militant white power group (reported to have 30,000 members) has sent out a cry to come to the rally. In the past, they've turned up wearing camo gear, bulletproof vests, and carrying AR15s. Open-carry is illegal in Minnesota, but these racist thugs - the "Oath Keepers" - are bad news.

There apparently will be thousands of anti-Trump protestors there. It's a recipe for disaster, Trump still controls a cult who'll be easy to incite, is desperate enough to do anything.

There's no point protesting at Trump rallies. Trumpists who attend the rallies are brainwashed cultists who believe they're persecuted victims but simultaneously the chosen ones. It's like trying to convert the religious by disrupting a service in their place of worship - doomed. Leave them to it, at this stage it looks like Trump's going to be held accountable, if that's disrupted, then people should get out on the streets, strike, etc.

Because when you are tyring to look inconspicuous you fly out of the country on the cheap, trying to save money instead of having a return date to at least appear to not be a fugitive.

Trumpers are idiots.

Trump may be deliberately creating a situation (riots, violence, etc) where by he can use it as an opportunity to declare a national emergency and seize even more power.

To be fair to those idiots, they're probably familiar with witnesses not being able to testify against thug-lords because of unfortunately fatal accidents, suicides etc.

These witnesses were arrested at the airport just hours after having lunch with Rudy... Coincidence? I think not.

Trump is draining the swamp, in the same way a "Judas goat" drains a stockyard.

Judas goat: "A Judas goat is a trained goat used in general animal herding. In stockyards, a Judas goat will lead sheep to slaughter, while its own life is spared."
