Have you changed your password since they made these changes in May? I believe that only passwords changed once the new system was implemented will be case-sensitive, and non-truncated. Looks like @ASBBank still needs to make this more well known

So I updated my password today... lol. Been a wee while. 

This random characters after the real password "issue" doesn't happen with the new password. They're also case sensitive. 

ASB should have done a better job of notifying people, yes, but I don't think this new thing is really a problem to be honest. If someone wants in on your account they still have to find your real password anyway and IIRC your account gets locked after a few invalid tries.

Exactly, I still don't know why people here get so wound up about strong passwords on banking sites.
If it's unique and not easy to guess, you don't need it to be case sensitive, long, alpha numeric etc.
