Credit card price guarantee. This is new to me.

How does it work in practice and the limitations?

Any variation in conditions between cards?

Depends on your credit card.  Here's an example from Gem Visa

Price Protection

Means never having to miss out on the sales again. If you buy something with your Gem Visa and you see its dropped in price at the same retailer within 6 months from the date of purchase, the difference in price will be credited back to your card account.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Sounds much too good to be true  undecided

Presumably the customer has to apply for a partial refund, which sounds like a logistical nightmare.

Think of it as being like a neverending rebate scheme. For every claim, you have to fill in a form. And wait.

I have a friend that claimed on this - not the price promise, but he damaged his iPad after dropping it, and he made a claim and it was paid out within about a week, IIRC.

I wouldn't suspect the price guarantee would be much different, as long as you provide the appropriate documentation (I assume receipt from purchase and copy of new offer).

I suspect they rely on very few people claiming, and that people thinking it is more hassle than it is worth. I mean each time you go into your supermarket, the prices on products are always changing.
