I wonder if anyone else is with kiwibank and has got a whole bunch (5 so far) of "Deposit Alert" emails today - they don't appear to match the actual state of my account when I log into internet banking and check, or perhaps they are outdated ones coming from a queue somewhere. Just wondering if it's some sort of issue on the kiwibank end and affecting anyone else, or some sort of issue with my account I need to worry about.

Guessing it's phishing email wanting you to click on the links in the email and log in.

if you have already clicked on the links in the email and logged in I suggest you change your password (from the kiwibank website) ASAP.

also follow directions on this page:

I got an email today from them (legitimate) so sounds like it might be a phishing attempt.

I'm with Kiwibank and didnt get any emails like this recently... feel free to PM me and I'll send you account details so you can make massive deposits to trial it? ^^

Seriously though, if they dont reflect your account transactions, and especially if they don't have your account number I'd say they are either spam/scam/click-bait or someone else has mistyped their email and accidentally matched yours?

I have this with Gmail as someone in SA with a same innitial surname has set up a gmail account that matches mine but has a period between the innitial and surname, which google somehow ignores and means we "share" an email address - separate logins and passwords and all! :(

i just use that email as a junkmail/random-site-confirmation address and dont care anymore \_0_/

These emails haven't got a single link in them. They just have my account details (name, number, etc) followed by:

$XXXX was deposited into your account today.

You can check your latest transactions on internet, phone or mobile banking.

If they are phishing emails, they won't work :p

I got a couple today for deposits going back last week sometime, looks like they were stuck in their SMTP queue for a few days and are clearing a backlog.

Thanks guys, that's what I was hoping it might be - the amounts looked like amounts that we might have shuffled around our accounts in the last week or so, just seems they were delayed.
