I'm still seeing about ~100Mbit on the remote connection here but if there is an issue this is likely on a different BNG etc as I am pretty sure you folk are down south.

Not sure who you mean, but I'm in Wellington, so might share the same BNG as your remote connection Michael.
benokobi: Is it possible to get support through their normal channels been messaging since last week.
It is self service with limited support for problems only. They make this very clear. If there is a problem with either your connection or on their end they'll diagnose but otherwise you're basically on your own.

benokobi: They’re all good, system works all good, just Chorus keeping me at home all morning and emailing rescheduling in 2 months time and sending me to a Cisco voicemail.
You should never be mad if you get to hear Opus No. 1 as part of this. I am pretty sure Chorus are still smashed.

Still no change in performance or resolution on my side. Quic hasn't managed to take a look at the DM yet, hopefully soon as I can't carry on like this for long. :/
I got bored of all the speed tests so I thought I'd test out some other downloads since I've been seeing some very strange speeds to/from my employeer even though normal speeds test give decent results. Downloading the latest Ubuntu ISO (just a nice big file to try) from a range of different mirrors in NZ, I get ~20Mbps.
@studdart Apart from Speedtests though what is this actually preventing you doing? Is it a "nice to have" or is it essential to you to actually achieve these speeds? Sure, you're not getting Hyperfibre speeds but for now is this really a big deal and stopping you from doing anything apart from take a quick Speedtest?
I've personally only got Gigabit and find this totally fine. I'm a power user with a large homelab etc also and I don't care about what my Speedtests give me since as-long as I can still do everything then I am happy.
I totally get you're paying for Hyperfibre but you're also using an underpowered router with known performance issues too. You still need to test with another router that is 100% capable of doing Gigabit or Hyperfibre routing regardless of what anyone else is saying here as it is still up to you to rule out everything on your end. Get your PC booted into Linux and test via that, test another router, use another PC connected via Ethernet to the ONT. Basically every data point proving it isn't on your end right now is needed before you can safely put blame the ISP to check out their end.
Hence why I said "grain of salt" on my tests because I can't do any of that on a remote connection. It may look like there is an issue but I can't say there is an issue without additional troubleshooting.
Also lastly this is not an official support forum. @quic just volunteer around here. Official support with them as stated is largely in your court unless if there is an actual problem with your LSP or Quic.

Yes, it is. I WFH full time and require downloading 30-40Gb files multiple times a day. I also upload many large files all the time. With this service that's just not possible and it's materially impacting my work performance. I know most people don't need hyperfibre, at least not yet, I do. At the very very least I need solid 1Gbps fiber and I'm not even getting that.

I removed the router from the equation here: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=49&topicid=299332&page_no=22#3081242.
I understand this isn't a support forum and they don't provide support. Given I've being messing around with computers for 30 years and the internet since the mid 90s I thought I'd use my knowledge to give them a fair shake before jumping ship. This is the only place they provide to do that. If you think I'm misplaced in my wanting to give them a go, then that's fine... I'll jump ship. I will assume that @quic is not a volunteer at Quic and they would rather Quic succeeds and that's why they are here. That's what I wanted too. :(
@studdart My other recommendation is to boot into a live Linux distro like Ubuntu and try via that just to rule out your OS. Basically the main point here is just to get as much data as possible to prove it is not your end but you've basically got to test every variable to do so.

Hey folks!
Just popping on to say we haven't vanished from the face of the planet. There's two people who monitor/manage this account here, both are a bit swamped personally! So apologies for not responding earlier.
I have received PMs with info (thanks heaps!) and have passed this on to be looked at. There are a couple of running theories (hint: @michaelmurfy may be close), but the team will investigate further.
Rest assured I'll come back once I have more info, and again apologies for the delay - we're not a large team monitoring the account here! 🙂
Quic Broadband
quic.nz - The telco who puts you in charge!
After reading the comments in this thread I decided to give Quic a try on a new connection.
No issues to report thus far - connection went live today, received my static IP and the speeds are as advertised :)

Running OPNsense w/ IPS for those curious.

Welcome! Nice speeds, I've wanted to go OPNsense for a while but keep talking myself out of it. Currently using an Edgerouter ER-4.

Done. I tried with Mint. Took a sec to get the PPPoE running on Linux, but I'm posting this from it (to grab the screen shots easily!). Anyway, basically the same performance. To be clear, no router is involved except the required ONT. It is a direct connection from the Linux PC to the ONT:
I've tried this multiple times (refreshing the page to get a different server) and the pattern is always the same.
More concerning is that I tried downloading a few different Linux ISOs from a few different mirrors (mostly ANZ but also the US) and the download speed on those was dire. 2MBs (big B) or so. Sometimes it'd pop up to 10ish, but then back down. This might explain some of the terrible performance I'm getting work wise. This was using the same Linux PC with a direct connection, no Asus router.

Happy to see you here Quic. If you need to me do anything, feel free to PM me. I'll gladly run any tests to help solve this.
