Same deal as Suthland 29th July  Guess I have to pull my head as I have been quite critical of sky previously and their customer care. Well Done Sky

just rang them up,  i guess it's the whole 12 month contract v high outlay.  As I supected, Sky still retain ownership of the box even after outlaying your $600

Yeah - got my letter, and booked install for 29th July.  Well done Sky, only $49 to upgrade my existing box, and I get 4 months free multiroom - and no HD charge for 12 months.

Thanks Sky - you exceeded my expectations.

I also am very happy with the Sky Deal. For $49 get a new Hd My Sky get to keep the old My Sky (give back the std box) and get the multiroom free for 4 months. A lot better than i thought it would be.

Does that include the extra $10 / month for the measily 4 HD channels??

No, if you have multiroom you pay no extra for HD. So this really is a 'winning proposition' for those with existing multiroom.Laughing

Will the HD channels replace the SD channels when viewing with the HD box or will they be different channels?

James Bond: Will the HD channels replace the SD channels when viewing with the HD box or will they be different channels?

good question, i'd like to know too.

i'd hope they would be different when needed, as i'm sure there is SS3 content which will be sent to Sky in HD.

the move of all NRL content to Sky Sport 2 now makes a whole lot more sense.

Speaking of HDMI, I've noticed that MySky HDi will have HDMI 1.2. Any major difference between 1.2 & 1.3?

That depends on your equipment, but basically, no.  Wikipedia has a good article on the technical differences, but if you want an informed opinion as to if you need HDMI 1.3 or no, read this:

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/853

It is an excellant piece of work, and yet another example showing the 'bigger numbers = better' mentality of the CE and IT industries.

The guy I spoke with asked straight up if my HDMI port was HDCP-compliant, I was quite impressed really! Seems like some people at Sky actually do know what they're talking about...
