Received this the other day from JB. Looks like its probably 2019 model, but good price for the size.

Thoughts on something like this? Obviously it's missing bells & whistles

At the price of $2999 (or under) I don't think you'll get FALD LCD-LEDs or above.. but for a 75" you could also consider

Sony 75" X80G https://www.heathcotes.co.nz/products/kd75x8000g-sony-75in-x80g-4k-uhd-smart-tv?tduid=842edd0c376317273924ab7baa7c80cc

LG 75" UM7580 https://limelectronics.co.nz/ocart2/index.php?route=product/product&path=64_133&product_id=5427

It's a 2020 model, but unfortunately, not a good one...

How far away do you sit from the TV? You might be able to get away with a better quality 65" if you are close enough. It's not listed on the website, but my local JB was doing a 65" Sony X950g for $2488 on the weekend.

Unfortunately the 65" -> 75" jump is where the price exponentially increases for most TVs.

roderickh:

Ha ha I'm pretty against them now, unless they're offering the best price by a long shot.

For the record I ended up with a 65Q95T at a similar price to the 65GZ1000. Wasn't keen to wait until the EOY CX sales. Some compromises made but also gained some usefulness out of it.

Geez, that's a pretty awesome deal. My only real qualm with Samsung TV's is the the price is quite often out of wack with competing TVs, but they do make good LED TVs on the top-end.

Anyone any insight into when the Sony A8H may land?

2x HDMI ports on a 2020 TV is pretty poor tbh.

So far it has been impressive. To be fair we've been using a 1080p 55" set from 2011... and for the last two months a 43" TV being lent to us. I spent the last 2 months reading up OLEDs... was dead set on a GZ or LG C9-X and somehow ended up with something else... funny how it works..

The blooming isn't as bad as what only forums suggest and the UI is relatively easy to use and learn.

I do however really like the one connect box though.... Keeps it super simple.

From what I can see, the Q95T has 120 LD zones, so would be a big improvement over mid-range sets like the Sony X950g with 60, which I presume will carry over to this year's lineup as well. And a definite imrpovement over your previous TVs! For gaming, it will be perfect for next-gen consoles/GPUs.

OneConnect sounds like a neat idea in theory, and I would be interested to see if they allow further HDMI 2.1 upgrades (more ports etc) similar to what they did for last years TVs equipped with it, but I also have a slight distrust of Samsung when it comes to modular things...

I was keeping an eye on the old 2019 Q90R if it dropped down to good price at EOL, as that has a whopping 480 zones, but no dice.

Sony has been quite slow to roll out their lineup this year, so far only the X8000H series have made it. I do think I read this month/July somewhere though...

I see the LG B series is no longer limited to Harvey Norman, as with the previous years; Noel Leeming now has a listing for the BX. Hopefully we will see a bit more price competition this year then.

Oh, and for the deep pockets among us, how about the 88" ZX 8k OLED? Only a cool, above-average-new-car price of $60k. It truly is buzz-word bingo; 8k, OLED, DOLBY ATMOS + Vision IQ, ThinQ, AI Processing...

Yep, I recall seeing a BX at a NL branch. They also had a CX still in box, on display. Sales must be going strong to not even bother unboxing it..

Seeing the ZX in person was great, although the pricetag had one too many 9's.

Purty, I may have to go down to my local NL and buy myself a ticket to dream... especially since with LG delaying production at their 10.5G plant in Paju indefinitely, it's gonna be a while before we see >65" OLED panels stop being silly-money prices.

Well, if sales are still strong, I guess there goes my hopes of deep price cuts to encourage consumer confidence in the back quarter of the year...

My TV is now in my lounge, still in a box though but I am very much looking forward to finishing work and getting home and unpacking it. Then starting the assembly of the new cabionet I purchased for it

Well may as well reply here as I did a fair bit of chat about a new TV. I'm about 3 weeks into ownership of my 65GZ1000, what a TV! By far the biggest pluses of OLED is contrast and brightness, the amount of depth and contrast to pictures compared to LED is insane. Dolby Vision through Apple TV and HDR/+ on other sources is just amazing. I told someone its like the 1st time I watched 1080P on a FullHD screen. The detail level is just outstanding. Ive watched the following through apple tv 4K, the whole 1st season of Ozark & The Mandalorian, Greyhound and Bad boys for life. All in DV/HDR and all I can say is I should have purchased one sooner.

Extremely happy with it

I'm another happy GZ1000 owner - a 55" in my case because we sit quite close.  Amazing picture quality upgrade from my previous 48" Samsung 1080 LED.  Also paired with an Apple TV 4k, although I'm actually finding the TV UI and apps are OK also.  Thanks to the advice on this forum that led me to this TV

JBHifi now listing the 55" Sony A8H. No stock yet but the 65" can't be that far away.

The Panasonic HZ series of tv’s are landing in August and Sept. I emailed Panasonic to ask them. The HZ2000 is rated by HDTVtest as the ‘pinnacle’ OLED. I am getting an HZ1500 when it becomes available in August.

Can anyone recommend a 55 or 65 inch smart TV for a kids room? We have a C9 as a main TV, just want something for the kids. Cheap as possible but would prefer to stick to the major brands and not too crap if you know what I mean.
