tzone: hey im really interested in getting mysky hd
dont currently have any sky service installed but we do have the sattellite on the side of the house ready to go, i have the coax cable rewired to a location close to my projector as the location it currently is will not be close enough to connect to my projector which is mounted to the ceiling, my projector is a sony vpl aw10 which im pretty sure is hdcp compliant as my ps3 runs perfectly on it (at 1080p)

the thing i am wondering about is how much i will have to pay to get myskyhd "installed" i put quotes because all the guy has to do is give me the box and its done

secondly are the hd channels going to be tv3 + sky ticket (sky sport 1 2 and sky movies 1 2) total of 5 hd channels
because im not interested in sport channels at all, and the movie channels are average we used to have telstra sky with movies but they always repeated or blocked r18 or ran old movies etc how good is the movies channels now

thirdly the cost per month should be
start up 45 ??
+ hd box rental 15??
plus movies if i want it therefore plus 10 for hd so another 30

Sawyersboy - Just spoken to Sky's help desk and they have confirmed to me that you can use a optical cable to connect your receiver. So you should be able to get surround sound even if your receiver doesn't have a HDMI socket. Unfortunately Sky doesn't provide the optical cable.

The latest SKYWATCH magazine lists this link to get more information on MySkyHDi however there dosn't seem to be anything there.

Maybe there'll be some content there on Tuesday?

Sky's efforts for HD have been pathetic, especially when you consider what Foxtel provided in Aussie.

Yep just as bad a Vodafone's effort on the iphone. The July Skywatch has zero info.

Agreed. I want my bandwidth back.
Foxtel did a much nicer more informitive job than trying to go down the 'comedy' route.

This new Sky HDi promotion is as bad a the "Burt" one for Mysky, why do Sky have to try and be the class clown with their promotions instead of providing a clear informative site. Doesn't even show a picture of the rear of unit.

I am really confused.

I thought MyskyHDI (Mysky2) had double the storage space as MySky1 - it says it stores 60 hours of content (or is that in HD format) - it's not quite clear.

Probably still best for us to go with MySky1 - does anyone know if they offer the payment option for Mysky 1 - seems logical that they should.

When I phoned them back in January, they told me then - that they had no payment option for normal mysky but may do so in the future - but even then they were not sure. So if they can do a payment option for MyskyHDI surely, they can do it for Mysky1.

The HDi has 2x the disc space, so for recording SD channels it will give you pretty much 2x the capacity, all depends on how much the partition off for On Demand. Obviously HD channels will use 2-3x more disc space per hr.
