I can't get ATI HW acceleration to work with MyTheatre (can't see any option in the menus, and hacking the registery didn't seem to work either), so picture was very jumpy on old P4 Presecot 3.2 GHz - CPU maxed out at 100%. Audio OK ...

Watched Sport 1 HD, TV3 HD & Aux HD (cartoon network in SD???). The version of MyTheatre is very unstable with S2 cards so runs for about one minute and dies ...?I didn't look further as I doubt it is anything more than beta s2 code.

Now scratching my head over GBPVR (hopefully more stable S2 support) and a manual S2 setup

I take it this is using the 45xx card from a MySky HDi install..? have you tried it with a normal card..? (45xx)

Yes and no. I wonder if the other 45x card I have (on the same account) is now HD enabled too (even though it's in an SD mysky) ...

Will play around with the other card later today or tomorrow ... up to my eyeballs in GBPVR's config just now ...

yes this is possible. i mentioned in one of my earlier posts that i can record the encrypted streams then decrypt later after recording. i use altdvb to grab the encrypted streams then use "offline descrambler" with ndscam to decrypt the recorded streams, i can record as many encrypted streams as i want from the same transponder but its got to be in ts format and include the ecm pid aswell as the video and pid's else it wont work. its not possible to (not with my set up anyway) to record and decrypt several streams in realtime from the same transponder.

by the way i hardly ever watch sky in realtime on my pc due to glitches every 10secs, i watch thru the sky digi box and use my pc solely for recording, "offline descrambler" does seem to solve the problem with 10 sec glitches tho allowing me to extract the mpeg video/audio streams to seperate files then author onto dvd.

The 10 sec glitch seems to suggest you are using 17xx,? or should I RTFT?

thats correct, im using 17xx but i'll be calling up sky soon and asking them to replace my old box for a new silver pace one, would this get me a 45xx card?

I did this a few months back as I had an old motorola black beast. The guy came and gave me a new silver pace along with another 17xx card :( (It was a few weeks before this thread started... :( )

Unless something changes, I will have to "lose" it but am holding off to see how this thread goes over the next few weeks (while Im on holiday)

so no, in my experience it doesnt gauruntee a 45xx card....

Hi, Just wondering if i can get a copy of your working version of NDSCam for 17xxx cards. I also use AltDVB and think its great software. Thanks.

If its not swapped for a redstripe card, the tech isnt doing his job right - silver paces should have red stripe cards (45xxx, i think, i havent looked at numbers other than the serial), sky policy as of 3 months ago or so.

Hey guys,

Just a FYI as in this thread that joker is no longer developing NDScam for personal reasons, and isn't interested in open sourcing it either. I have a feeling these personal reasons maybe include news corp finding him and threatening legal action, since NDScam is the closest anyone has ever got to 'hacking' nds, though you still need the smartcard. Just a guess, he could have just got caught up in doing other things.

So what we have is all we're going to get, if you have a 17XX card then it looks like the only option is a 45xx one. And the smart card updating while in the HTPC will never work.

well joker sent me about 6 test files one night when we were trying to get my 17XX card to work, needless to say we got the 17XX card working and some of the test files he sent me can log the raw commands/replies going to and from the phoenix reader, these files may be very usefull to someone else trying to develop a ndscam plugin

if anyone wants a copy of ndscam which does the 17xx cards, please send me a pm with your email

Yip, I would say it would be due to legal reasons and probably has had a disclosure statement forced to not pass on any info notes etc... might be a dark day of the HTPC..

I thought Oz and UK NDS could be made to work with MythTV (I believe with code taken from the Dreambox), or am I wrong?

Hi, ive just finished building mysef one of those smartcard readers (and i did the mod to it, didnt work otherwise). Im able to decode with ndscam 0.0.0.7 but not version 0.0.0.5. Im using an 17xx card unfortunately and even tho it decodes fine for like 10-30 seconds then dies and have to reselect the ca stream i ndscam monitor. btw i cant get it to stick on 0x96A for some reason. This is using altdvb as mediaportal for some reason wont decode at alll. One thing I noticed is that my insterted card led almost fully turns off when the card is being read.

Any ideas? I would love to fix this problem. ATM in not even sure if I get at 45xx card that it will make any difference as I think it may be the card reader but it seems to be built right.

Ive send him a message asking for the files but I havent heared anything back for about a week now.

I've rechecked the circuit board and measured the voltages when its in operation and it's a bit low but still well within the working limits of the IC chips. I also additionaly modded it so that it bypasses the voltage regulator to check if it would make any difference (the volatge regulator takes ur 7-12v and turns it into 5v) since its slightly undersized and theres was no major change.

Im starting to think it may be a software issue after all as even after decoding stops, ndscam still call's the smartcard and there is data returned. I think NDScam somehow changes what CA stream it uses after a few decoding cycles and reverts back to the deafault 0x969 CA witch is used by the 45xx cards. Thats my opinion anyway,

One thing I found is that the EPG data from sky isn't encrypted at all. ALTDVB gives me like almost a weeks worth of data for all sky channels even without a sky card pluged in. I was under the impression that the whole transponder was encrypted with NDS but I guess not.

Oh and another thing, I seem to be unable to find the data stream for the HD channels to check to see if I can decode them. Any idea under witch transponder they are in?
